What's for tea tonight? (#8)

i didn't! i just chowed down on it. i don't think they spread disease do they? they certainly don't affect the taste or owt.

well, I've stuck most of the unopened packets of rice and most of the lentils and the like in the freezer - they do look a bit *suspect* though :hmm: and I figure that I can just rinse them before using.

and i threw out all the opened rice which was like 8 packets of different types. *sob*

feck.

and Orang - weevils somehow seem less gross than the moths. the moths have manky manky eggs and maggots everywhere... urgh... YUK

i feel the opposite. weevils seem worse. cos of the jumping.
i never found a moth caterpillar/larva in food if that's what you mean by maggot, just the odd moth flying out of an open packet of pasta, which is why i've always just assumed they were errant clothes moths.
if i'd found a proper maggot in there i'd have definitely chucked it out! maggots are gross.

Ewww... I was really hungry until i read the last 2 pages :D
My mum had a terrible infestation of moths, i didnt realise it was so common - i thought it was because she's not very, um, houseproud?!

Tonight i'm having Ainsley harriet Lentil Dahl with something - was going to be prawns but I might do them with some cous cous for my lunch tomorrow instead.

Salmon, cod and noodles swimming in a Thai broth. I think I went overboard with the chillis because teeth feel like they're melting.

I have some prawns and some scallops and a whole tilapia so I think I will bake the fish and stirfy the seafood with some spring onions and brocoli carrots and chilli, with a side of Brown basmati. mmmm should do it!!

The Tilapia was reduced to 98p

I'm doing the same pasta bake that we had last week cos I'm still getting tons of tomatoes AND the kids loved it. A layer of pasta mixed into some roasted tomato sauce (which I'll add some courgette to, no doubt  :D ), a layer of mozzarella and herby chicken strips, more pasta, then a bit of extra sauce and some extra mozzarella....and broccoli on the side.
Garden pears   :D for pudding!

Mrs R is cooking tonight 'cos apparently since she met me she's forgotten how to cook. I think she's doing my mushroom stroganoff with taglietelle recipe - winner.

I'm going to be doing steak tonight as a treat. Will do a quick mushroom and peppercorn sauce and probably mash on the side.

mmmmm, I *want* mac cheese now ;) but I have friends coming over... and the boy can't eat mac cheese anyway... darn it :(

have No Inspiration as to what to cook my friends!

ooh crustychick how about mrsfrans puy lentil lasagne? I totally love the earthy flavours in this & it can be vegan too if that's a concern? it's on her 101 every cook things every cook should know blog (moonsi being sooooooo helpful & not supplying link).

For me I will have a choice of '4 mains' but being veggie that now probably reduces it to one! I'm going to The Glee Club in Brum on a Groupon voucher which is comedy & dinner for £5.50 so fingers crossed I won't be complaining.
