Too true.
I'm now wishing that I'd taken some sausages out of the freezer this morning.
Tea tonight will probably be pasta with roasted tomato sauce.

I don't have a set recipe for it, I make it up as I go along each time but roughly it goes like this:
Fry some (or lots if you're me) garlic, onion and the leek in a big pan until soft then add some hot stock and the pearl barley. When the barley is about half cooked add some chopped potato and bring up to the boil then simmer until the barley and the potato is cooked through. Add a knob of butter and lots of cheese and stir through. Serve topped with more cheese, black pepper and some raw spring onion. It's really tasty with sausages in it and you can also add butter beans to the stew to make it stretch if you need to
Oh also... I can go quite stodgy, so if you don't like that then I'd add boiled potato about 15 mins before the barley is ready.

So strong is the power of the tea thread that we also took sausages out of the freezer this morning. Venison jobs, with the requisite mash and peas. Very glad now, 'cos either I'm coming down with the virus thingy Mrs R has got or my withdrawals from giving up the weed/baccy have intensified and all I can manage is something simple and comforting. And some wine if this doesn't sort itself out.

worked it out now!
going out for a curry so will probably have a paneer dish. A friend is fit to bursting with a baby inside her so it's a catch up & hug dinner before she goes pop!

I've been in Hull for the last 24hours trying to deal with everything that has happened and I came home this afternoon. Pickle has gone to bed now but I'm so tired I feel sick I don't know what I want to eat, Bees isn't here (which is good because he hasn't done one fucking thing in the house since I've been away, not even put the dirty glasses in the fucking kitchen 
) so I need something just for me, only there isn't any food either
*sigh*
