What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I thought it sounded nice too, Corax (and glad to hear it was :D )!

Weird dinner tonight - everything in the fridge/garden that won't survive for our six days away.....so something with bacon, corn on the cob and courgettes... :hmm: ....although I might do the bacon to have with eggs and toast NOW  and then do the sweetcorn and courgettes with some chicken pies from the freezer (2 split between the 3 of us :D ).

There'll also doubtless be a new TON of strawberries to eat  AND yesterday I picked our first two peaches!!! One of them is MASSIVE!
So more Eton Mess with the last of the cream - although I reckon really we should eat the peaches just as they are.

Sheo you are totally bonkers (but then you/we have known that for sometime)....:D

Tonight I have 2 purple sweet potatoes that must be used & they are both very big. I had been planning on been lazy and just roasting them but now I'm going to make a green lentil shepherds pie thing with the potato mashed on top. I will serve this with veggies that are not yet bought & gravy.

If your name can be on two lines, then maybe you could re-lengthen your name, Sheo?

We've just been to the cash and carry and bought loads of western imported food so instead of dinner we shall be bingeing on cheeses, bagels, olives, breads, japanese mochi and pain au chocolate.

ALSO - my son has invited his pal to eat with us, so now we've got two peoples worth of pie BETWEEN FOUR OF US! I was really looking forward to it, too! :(

can you not just bulk it up with some broccoli? I think the answer will be no...cos you probably ate that with ice-cream or on a sanwich or other bonkers concoction.

As it is my pie will be big and will serve 2 of us for about 2.5 meals EACH!

In fact moonsi, I used it up last night in a gratin to go with tandoori chicken and a greek salad. :p

We just had our 'dinner' and I bulked out the pie with chips and courgette.

I'm anticipating that that's probably just as wrong as broccoli, tbf.

Hugely underappreciated, very good for you, great tasting simply baked in foil with a bit of olive oil, salt and a bay leaf - and damn cheap too!

Yep I like that too!
Tonight, I'm just gonna cover it with salt, let it sit for 20 or so minutes. Wash it. Dry it. Sprinkle it with a bit of salt and grill. I love the crispiness but it does stink out the kitchen!

Cumberland sausages, mashed potato & carrots, steamed red cabbage, caremelised onions and gravy.
