What's for tea tonight? (#8)

spaghetti bolognese with very long spaghetti.

Where do you even get long spaghetti these days? It used to be a thing in the '80s and "spaghetti jars" for keeping it in used to come in regular and long, but I haven't seen long spaghetti in decades, it's all the short stuff now!

I get mine from Booths, expect you can probably get it from waitrose too. The other week I got some from sainsbury's, but it wasn't obvious it was very long 'cause it was folded over in the box. it's there once you look for it anyway!

I'm more of a Tesco value/Morrisons Savers range person myself, but thanks for the info :D

A couple of Salmon steaks and peas.

I blitzed the salmon in my microwave which was probably a mistake as I over did them a little.

Are you familiar with the Pioneer Woman cookery shows? This is very much her oevre.
My mum loves her, so much I bought her the Pioneer woman book about how she found her husband. I want to eat her food, but I would have to have a lot of gaviscon afterwards. 😂

Big pot of veggie chilli
Fajita spiced chicken & peppers (for me)
Refried beans (tinned, I'm going for low effort tonight, feel rough as fuck)
Taco shells and various accompaniments - salad, sour cream, cheese
I might do some plain rice to go with it.

Review and recipe please!

From a book I'm afraid, but if the pic isn't clear enough, let me know and I'll try and do better.

I've not done that much slow roasting of meats, so I'm still getting my head into it. The flavours were amazing, but I didn't cook it anywhere near that long (5 hours), but felt it probably needed a bit less. Maybe even a more fatty bit of meat, but that's hard with the OH. Still there's following a recipe and understanding it and I now feel a lot closer to the second and I'll certainly cook it again. :)

I've got half a tin of tomatoes, chicken breast, and peppers to use up, so I think I am going to go for a chicken chasseur type thing (although sans champignons) - ooh and I have some bacon in the freezer divvied up into useful portions, let's go for that and I'll defrost some bacon to go in it too.

OH has a portion of veggie chilli left over from last night

I'll do some rice, plain basmati, that will go with both of those things.

Is the book title Persiana? I was looking at it in Waterstones a few weeks ago and there’s some delicious looking recipes in it.
