What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Honestly it is like there is some sort of giant magnet on the Old El Paso shelf in the supermarket that attracts the OH - after we've been in there for a bit I realise that we are circling in a declining orbit centred around that shelf.

This is how we ended up having tacos the other night, we unaccountably had several boxes of taco shells in the cupboard.

I think I have dissuaded him from buying the full kits though after demonstrating how easy it is to make up the spice mixes for things (and we have all the spices, if you don't already then nothing wrong with getting a kit with a spice mix)
We had a lot of taco shells at one point :D We didn't eat a full box at a time, but had to buy another to make the next meal. Got a bit daft. I like the kits - I can just keep them in the pantry for emergencies and knock out a meal in 10 mins after a long day.

Honestly here is my issue - I love a bit of Tex-Mex inspired food, but I do not get tacos at all - it is crispy and you fill it with stuff and then you bite into it and bits of it and the filling go everywhere. I don't get it. Don't tell me it is street food because surely the function of any wrapping or cover or shell should be to prevent the filling ending up actually on the street, and tacos fail at that. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

Now I love a good soft flour tortilla as a vehicle for fillings.

I'm not really on board with crunchy tacos, but soft tacos you can roll up a bit? Yes please. Plus all you need to do is put another soft taco on a plate underneath and anything that drips off goes in the next taco! I make an amazing pork pibil (like at Wahaca if you've had that) to go in soft tacos with pickled pink onions.

YES - soft ones I can get behind that 100%. Flour tortillas, love 'em too.
Crispy taco shells, no I don't understand how it works. I mean obviously they do work, people use them and enjoy them, I think I am doing it wrong.

I just bought this cauliflower which is the size of a man’s head for 67p in Aldi so cauliflower cheese is a strong possibility

That's a beauty! I've never felt more like my Mum, than when I marvel at the size and beauty of a cauliflower.
I'm off to Borough Market today and I'm hoping to pick something nice up for tea there.

Absolutely with you on this.

Small is having mash, chicken, Broccoli as carrots. Himself is having a baked chicken breast that marinated in tikka paste, jacket spud and salad. I am having a repeat of last nights chicken in a pita with salad as it was so good.

Spinach and mascarpone pasta (probably penne) lathered in toasted pine nuts and parmesan.

Mint tea and a selection of choccy for afters. Probably that dark Aero. That contains crack :hmm:
I bloody love the dark aero I can eat the whole big bar in one sitting, same for those darkmilk choc buttons.

Tonight I am going to do some curry

Chicken makhani for me (quick version)
White fish (I think coley or pollock, whichever of those is in the freezer) with broc and potatoes madras for OH
Palak Dhal (from the freezer, not home-made)
Mushroom rice
Bread & butter
