What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Continuing the eating of foods the boy cant stand: Baked sweet potato with put lentils with porch ini mushrooms and a couple of Christmas chipolatas too (trying to empty the freezer before we move :D)

A couple of grilled chicken breast fillets and a massive beetroot salad. Really need some healthy stuff as I've been living off wine and chips since the weekend.

I've had Kitty's mac cheese with the veggies and bacon and it's amazing. It really works...the flavours/textures all go together, although you wouldn't think it.

Dinner tonight is all the leftover veg in my cupboard (slightly limp looking carrot, sweet potato, new potatos, spinach) chopped up small and simmered with a stock cube, with a fillet of cod on the side. Plus yoghurt and tinned peaches for afters later if I want it. I'm ravenous.

quorn cottage pie with sweetcorn and asparagus, as soon as i get in. Which is in about three minutes *beams hungrily* :)

I keep not recognising your user name and thought "why has this person eaten my food?!" :D

I am doing this tonight :)

The last time I tried to do a soup I ended up covering my self and the kitchen with scalding liquid during blending so will have to be extra careful :(

I have a loaf of malted granary in the bread-maker to accompany it too :)

Ooooh it was yummy!
I got some massive hand made sesame bread sticks from the deli and used them broken up as croutons too :)

winsoup! :)
did you make enough to freeze some? *steals croutonidea*

Well, 4 of us had big bowls for dinner, there is a big tub in the fridge for the boy to take to work tomorrow for lunch and a bit in the pan for me tomorrow, so, no ;)

Also our freezer is too full.

 forgot it was frozen and needed oven cooking. eating scones with cheese while i wait :)

i got bored waiting for it to cook, and got half a tub of ben and jerry's cheesecake brownie (THANK YOU LOVELY FLATMATE, i don't want to leave you :() out of the freezer. just remembered about it now
the pie has gone in the fridge for tomorrow.
i dropped the icecream on the floor just as i brought it into my room *fail* :(
but it landed on a plastic bag and hasn't gone everywhere! *win*

*double win if you take into account i am stuffing my face with deliciousness*

Beef massaman. It's the first time I've made it with beef instead of lamb. It's been my favourite curry since Quimmy took me to a sweet little Thai place in the market

last night we had fake chicken fillets cooked in sweet chilli sauce with new potatoes, and roasted carrots, fennel, red onions and red peppers...

tonight I'm waiting to find out if we have a friend coming over before I decide. We mostly have onions, carrots and broccoli in the house though, so not sure exactly what that lends itself to!!!

actually, I think we'll have thai red curry with tofu, carrots, red pepper and sugar snap peas. with thai sweetcorn cakes and cucumber salad if we have company :)

Last night I had some aloomutterkeema thing. Very nice. And olives and almost two bottles of wine

tonight will be vegetables.

Oooh thai sweetcorn cakes? :hmm:

Are they easy? I don't like crab but I like the flavours in crabcakes iyswim.

they're properly easy... although not very much like crabcakes I don't think (don't really know, as I don't eat fish).

you basically combine sweetcorn, with rice flour, regular flour, red curry paste, soy sauce, salt and egg to make a thick batter. then deep fry about a tablespoon at a time!!! hey presto, thai sweetcorn cakes. served with hot and sour cucumber salad and/or sweet and hot garlic sauce.

I can dig out the actual recipe if you like... it might take me a while as it's in an actual book rather than online :D

They sound lush  Don't worry about a recipe I never follow them properly anyway :D

I'm definitely going to give them a go very soon.

cool. it's basically 2 cups of sweetcorn with 3 tablespoons rice flour, 2 tbsp plain flour, 2 tbsps red curry paste, 1/2 tsp soy sauce, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 egg. mix well.

the cucumber salad is the winner in this though... nom.
