What's for tea tonight? (#8)

It was nice but a bit disappointing. It's just normally how you would make soup - sweat some onions and garlic, add a pinch of ground ginger, add peeled butternut squash with some orange juice and stock and then boil til done and blitz. I would make it again but put a lot more ginger in (probably fresh) and some orange zest to really zing it up.

I would probably put a touch of chilli flakes in for a bit of a kick. I made cucumber soup last year with cucumbers I grew, added some chilli flakes... delicious.

No. Weirdo. :p
the photo look appetising

i made an amazing tea - i roasted a chicken with just some lemon wedges, marjoram and thyme, as well as a bit of oil, salt and pepper. a tiny splash of water on the bottom of the tin. best roast chicken i've ever made.
had it with couscous and pine nuts which were cooked in the pan juices with some stock, and some buttered samphire.

Sweet potato with cottage cheese and tuna again - can't believe I never thought to put them together before now, it's fucking well nice. With spring greens, and I just ate half a pack of seafood mix while I wait for it to cook.

I'm excited about tonight's tea.
Smoked cumberland sausages, smoked bacon, beans, mushrooms & chips from the chip van

The smoked sausages were disappointing :(
I'm not sure they were all that great before they were smoked tbh, won't buy them again.
OTOH the bacon was sublime and the chips were some of the nicest we've ever had from the chip van

Tonight I've got an M&S ready meal: salt & vinegar crusted cod, in a warm tartare sauce with baby potatoes & peas.
The menfolk have got whatever they can scavenge from the freezer and cupboards.

Something from the big shop being delivered today  Could be fried halloumi salad with couscous, orrrr pesto gnocchi with roast toms, orrrr spaghetti and meatballs, orrrr - actually, it'll probably end up being quiche, couscous, salad, and houmous as I am out frigging leafletting again. Me thigh muscle on one side is killing me, and I actually thought I'd dislocated me hip the other night sliding off a kerb. Owwww! FUCKER!

Tonight I'm going to make a giant chilli with quorn mince, veggies and all the beans. I'll make enough to freeze for another four meals worth. And I'll make extra rice so that I can make egg fried rice with veggies tomorrow.

Going to have to be simple and quick tonight - baguettes filled with egg, cheese and tomato - with lashings of hot sauce.. oh and perhaps a crescent of crisps.

Ask and the TB will provide. [emoji41] I got Tesco Finest dolphinose potatoes and beef bourgignon. Should be enough for my lunch too as I'm home alone.

I had breakfast and lunch, so cold Bombay potato in a can, mixed with hummus.

A bit later I will nuke a Bramley in the microwave and smother it in demerara sugar and soya custard.

I decided I needed to eat the odds and sods of grub I had rattling about in the fridge, as I'm out for tea tomorrow night then away for the weekend.
So I ended up with peppered mackerel, a boiled egg, an onion, beetroot, some coriander, a bit of cheese, a few olives and two tomatoes. Pretty nice, actually. Strawberry ice cream and a banana for pudding.
Look at me! Pudding on a Wednesday, what decadence! :D

A massive salad of little gem lettuces, baby broad beans, tiny raw broccoli florets, cherry toms, avocado, coriander, spring onion, black olives and chargrilled corn on the cob. The dressing was made with home made chipotle sauce, olive oil, vinegar and mayonnaise. It was ok but it needed walnuts :D Cocoa with spiced vodka for pudding.
