What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Last night we had some smoky pulled chicken and bean stew on top of jacket potatoes.

Think I might make roasted red pepper pasta tonight bc we've got a load of those pointy red peppers to use up.

It's a bit late but wedding food on Saturday:

Starter: pigeon breast with balsamic mushrooms and berries

Main: lamb rump with roast trimmings and mint sauce and GRAVY

Afters: the most delicious creme brule (sp) I've ever eaten. It's not normally something I like.

Washed down with SO.MUCH.WINE.

There was a buffet later on. All the chicken on sticks.

Yesterday I had ravioli filled with porcini mushrooms and mozzarella cheese all in a gorgeous marsala creamy sauce...scrumptious!
Wow - that sounds bloody amazing.

Tonight and I am actually going to cook something! Yay. It's gonna be lentil soup of some kind. Not sure whether to go for carrot and lentil (cos I have loads of celery in, as well as garlic bread int freezer), or spicy lentil with basmati.

Just ordered a big Tesco shop online. Not done it for ages but so pushed for time and energy lately it had to be done. Ordered some fresh soups and quiches too to save on cooking. Plus - it was only a quid delivery charge! AND the fella gets to put it all away instead of me, ha! Win all round

We had oven chips, mushy peas, and roast onion gravy last night, btw, just in case you were on the edge of your seats, wondering.

Some rare venison steaks (TB) fried with whole cloves of garlic and the pan deglazed with creme de cassis, new spuds, a carrot and parsnip mash and a bit of broccoli

Roasted red pepper pasta was good. Would've been better if I'd have blended it a bit tho.

While I've got a bit of time off I'd like to have a go at trying out some kind of stew with an interesting bit of meat like oxtail or something.

We had toasted wholemeal pitta, taramasalata *retype  delete, retype  delete* /  ..a couple of reheated mini sausage rolls, greek salad and coleslaw and the kids also had some stale old taco shells which have been sat on the counter for weeks in a placcy bag, which I broke into triangles, stuck in the oven for a minute and renamed 'tortilla chips' :p which they both said were 'OMG..mmm...lovely' *cackle*

They had a strawberry and banana lassi for pudding - and I'm having a toasted hot cross bun with butter  and a cup of Earl Grey.

I love oxtail stew...really good done in a slow cooker. Beef shin in guinness is banging too

That sounds quite interesting.
It was nice but a bit disappointing. It's just normally how you would make soup - sweat some onions and garlic, add a pinch of ground ginger, add peeled butternut squash with some orange juice and stock and then boil til done and blitz. I would make it again but put a lot more ginger in (probably fresh) and some orange zest to really zing it up.

I had a lazy tea tonight - a cheese and chilli jam bake thing in a stoneware pot, and the melted cheese was scooped up with Ryvita seedy thins. The presence of the Ryvita means that it is healthy of course.
