What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Ah now, isn't Orang Utan from Yorkshire too? Maybe they're just too posh for them?

In any case, they aren't exclusively Northern. I was just pointing out that if you ARE Northern, then you probably existed on them for at least part of your childhood :D
I just had parents who were into nutrition. I'm sure that's not true of any particular area. But sugar and sauce sarnies are just wrong, esp for kids unless you're poor or summat.

These were 'snatched' butties though. Something you could make really quick, and then sneak back out the house again without being caught.

Last night the most delicious veg biranyi cooked by friends. The husbands family are from Gujarati and his wife has learnt to cook from her in-laws. Pudding was homemade gulab jamon & ice-cream and conversation turned to chapatis which he can't do! So as he has a food delivery business he pays his cousin to do them but he really wants a rotimatic...a roti breadmaker!

His cousin makes 60 chapatis an hour and his wife 20.

Changed my mind about the pizza (which I'll have for breakfast instead).

Now having chicken thighs and drumsticks with Ras el Hanout, preserved lemons and apricots casserole, with chopped tomatoes and chickpeas. In the oven now

Oh dear... oh dear me. Lots of thunder going about, so I'm just eating for the sake of eating, in case I have to dash for the tent for a Netflix evening.

Packet of cheese and onion crisps, small tin of sweetcorn, a tin of tuna, a satsuma, salami, small wholemeal loaf and blackcurrant and liquorice sweets. Oh... and a bottle of wine in the tent for my Netflix moments.

Actually... it's the kind of meal my twelve year old would choose and I'd say no to  Apart from the wine, obviously.

Footnote: it's only a three man tent so I don't eat in it or cook in it. I could cook in the low small porch, but why would I want to in the pissing rain. And I've seen a snake, and don't fancy sharing the tent with that. No fucking siree.

A big fuck off proper paella. Just got some of the best chorizo and morcila that I know of. I also have some squid, haddock, big shell on prawns and a bucket of mussels that I'm about to start scrubbing.

Christ!! I'm drooling blackcurrant and liquorice.
