I can imagine they're working on doing better next time thoughI think the pathetic nature of the jan 6 coup shows just how disorganized the "trump base", i.e. His most hardcore support.

I think that the Jan 6 stuff was quite a shock to the system. I really don't believe that they'd allow it to get that far again. A bigger risk might be that the Authorities overreact if there's a next time.
contempt surely? On a complete tangent, but what happens in the UK if someone refuses to take an oath or affirmation?
If for example, a witness were to declare 'I am here under the threat of penalty, I do not wish to give evidence, and will not give an undertaking to tell the truth'?

The likelihood of more lone shooter type stuff will be even higher though.
Trump's defense is going to settle around the 1st amendment apparently. And you can lie under it.
How safe was it on Jan 6th.CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT I HAD TO FLY TO A FILTHY, DIRTY, FALLING APART, & VERY UNSAFE WASHINGTON, D.C.,
I know that is what they've been going around saying, but I'd be amazed if that is his actual defence given how vulnerable he would be if he used it - they jury will almost certainly get told about all the actions he took beforehand, and all the people (of whom Pence will be the most prominent) who said what he was doing was wrong. They'll be left with a choice of absolute and consequence-free speech for politicians or actually starting a riot with lies is wrong.
Rather more likely is him throwing one or more of his lawyers under the bus and saying he was told falsehoods by them, and was so badly advised that he genuinely believed what they were telling him. Giulani and Powell especially went up and gave multiple speeches where absolute fibs were uttered and it will have a grain of truth to it. Even Pence pointed to the crackpot lawyers who had advised him to do this.
Like who?True, that.
Speaking of which, am sure there were one or two urbanites who appeared to appreciate the raping, bigoted, crooked, gaslighting, leftwing baiting monster.
They be very quiet these days.
It wouldn't be the first time a MAGA lynch mob was after him tbf....If trump gets the nomination, Pence should run as an "Anti trump" independant republican - although he would probably get lynched by the MAGA mob.
Well the lawyer (John Lauro) apparently is a quite respected shark in the waters he swims in.I know that is what they've been going around saying, but I'd be amazed if that is his actual defence given how vulnerable he would be if he used it - they jury will almost certainly get told about all the actions he took beforehand, and all the people (of whom Pence will be the most prominent) who said what he was doing was wrong. It might be the 'he's crazy but he really believes it SO there's no malicious intent involved' type defense. Reminds me of the David Irving trial.
how would anyone notice??? There's already 2 incidents aday you'd have to get "creative" to get noticed above the normal level of mayhemThe likelihood of more lone shooter type stuff will be even higher though.
"Your honour, when I said to the bank teller 'give me the money, NOW!' I was just excercising my right to free speech"That freedom of speech could be applied to anything else, threats, racism, lying
It's very overrated
An accidental over dose would be better. My other half has suggested that putting Trump in a medically induced coma might be the smartest move his legal representatives can make now
They must be seriously considering itAn accidental over dose would be better.
