What stupid shit has Trump done today?

The fact his poll numbers with his base hardly ever move regardless of what he says or does I find frustrating.
Heard a very interesting bit on a Contrapoints video on YouTube where she was saying how Trump has appeal a lot of Americans' ideal of a rich successful person - gold everything! Says whatever they like with no consequences! Fires people! Replaces wife with younger model when they feel like it! Etc

The original video was a violent but tongue firmly in cheek movie, but that is an incitement to kill members of the press and political opponents.
Normal people will see it as stupidity, but many Trump supporters are far from normal.

Trump's Syria idiocy is changing the power balance in the region and going to cause a lot of other problems. Russian supported (not physically) Syrian troops are heading to the area and NATO countries are talking of sanctions against another NATO member, and the possibility this will escalate to more than just cracks in NATO.
I'll bet there's an all night party in the Kremlin tonight.

That leaves the question - Why did Trump withdraw the troops when it was nothing short of bloody obvious what was going to happen, and Russia would be the winner?

Last, but probably the most important, do any of the politicians give a fuck about all the civilians that are about to be displaced, injured, and get killed?

I'm sure some politicians very much give a fuck about the civilians that are about to be displaced, injured or killed.

Trump, however, does not. Not. At. All.

 :(

Actually might be a bit a headache for the Kremlin Geo strategically needs Syria but got some good arms deals out of Turkey recently ...But that's gravy ..odds of a middle eastern gas pipe to the med nil.

According to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, Hill described a sharp exchange on 10 July between Bolton and the US ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, about the role played by Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, to persuade the Ukrainian government to open investigations into Democrats, including former vice president Joe Biden.

Hill said Bolton instructed her to tell the National Security Council’s attorney that Giuliani was acting in concert with White House chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, in a rogue operation with legal implications.
Trump-Ukraine: John Bolton 'sounded alarm about Giuliani's actions'
“I am not part of whatever drug deal Rudy and Mulvaney are cooking up,” Bolton instructed Hill to tell the NSC lawyer, according to her testimony.

on the Hill testimony
“The deliberative process privilege disappears altogether when there is any reason to believe government misconduct occurred.”

Russia gets a crack in NATO's armour.
Trump just announce sanctions against a country that hosts a load of US nuclear bombs
His idiocy is astounding.
hmm
In mid-1975, the Turkish government announced that all U.S. military bases in Turkey would be closed and transferred to the Turkish Air Force. This action was in response to an arms embargo that the United States Congress imposed on Turkey for using American-supplied equipment during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Only Incirlik Air Base and İzmir Air Base remained open due to their NATO responsibilities, but all non-NATO activities at these locations were suspended.

Best I can tell is the Kurds have joined the Russian backed Assad forces and the Turkish backed Free Syrian army are going to have a fight on their hands. As the latter is also US and UK backed, the situation is getting interesting.
Basically, Trump has managed in one idiotic move what the Russians have been after for ten years, hand effective dominance in the region to Moscow and, just as an aside, empower Iran.

Edit - Has Turkey has already been moving towards Russia for weapons sales, so one wonders what else is going to happen over the next few weeks and just how far these political shifts are going to go.
I think Turkey can forget the F35

Since most politicians are more interested in cash and power than their political beliefs, I wonder if we'll see Turkey shift to Russia.
Sounds a bit daft but their relationship with the Kremlin has been reasonable for the most part and Iran and Turkey now have a common enemy, or at least it's heading that way. It's very possible, assuming the Turkish government are prone to power, cash and corruption than their ideals, we are about to see a total power shift in the region, and maybe even a NATO country leave or get pushed out of the alliance.

Bolton warned lawyers over 'hand grenade' Giuliani: report

The mess gets deeper with even the ultra right having a pop at Trump

Also in there, we all know Giuliani's hands are very dirty but this is the first time I've seen an active investigation into him mentioned from someone in the know. I wonder if he'll flip on Trump when the FBI hammer on his door.
Giuliani seems quite happy to incriminate himself , if there's a tv camera in front of him .....trumps about to get the same loyalty to him as he gives to other people..
...Giuliani ...who ...? . never knew him

the spray of batshittery is going to be .....epic ..

Liz Cheney tried to blame the Syria debacle on impeachment - CNNPolitics

In the wake of President Donald Trump's disastrous decision to pull American troops out of northern Syria, House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) suggested that she had figured out what led Trump to this: Impeachment!

Yes, impeachment.

"The impeachment proceedings that are going on and what the Democrats are doing themselves to try to weaken this President is part of this. It was not an accident that the Turks chose this moment to roll across the border. And I think the Democrats have got to pay very careful attention to the damage that they're doing with impeachment proceedings."

Wait, wait, wait.

So because Democrats -- three weeks as of Tuesday -- formally launched an impeachment inquiry centered on Trump's conduct in Ukraine, the President decided to go pull troops out of Syria?
The argument here is, well, nonsensical. The decision to pull troops was Trump's and Trump's alone. The reason that the Turks began to "roll across the border" is because of the announced withdrawal of American troops from northern Syria. And again, that withdrawal decision was Trump's -- against, it's worth adding, the clear wishes of his own party.
