The more I read about the school they came from, the easier it is to understand the environment that created SCOTUS Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who also attended a single sex, expensive, private Catholic school.

The piece also cites emails from someone claiming to be the mother of the boy who featured most prominently in the video. If it's genuine, that rotten apple fell right at the base of its stinky rotten tree.

In an email to this reporter, the mother of the student right up in Phillips’ face said the story was “fake news.” She claimed that Phillips, who she referred as a “this man,” in quotation marks, was drumming close to the teen’s face. But her biggest gripe, besides saying this reporter was promoting hate, was that she alleged the students were themselves harassed. By “black Muslims.”

When this reporter thanked her for the correspondence and explained that it would be reported on as part of the story, she demanded the emails be deleted. “Delete my email. I want nothing to do with helping perpetuating (sic) your hate. I do not want to be a part of your story. You are ruining a boys life for fake news. Hate spreads like wildfire. I pray for you.”

When asked about her son’s actions in the video, she did not respond.

Also, just spotted this pathetic Tweet from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. It's not the area where the school is located , but they really shouldn't have bothered.

President Donald Trump on Saturday boasted to reporters about how well San Antonio’s border wall is working. But the Texas city is 150 miles from the Mexican border and has no wall.

“Everybody knows that walls work. You look at different places, they put up a wall, no problem,” Trump said outside the White House. “You look at San Antonio, you look at so many different places, they go from one of the most unsafe cities in the country to one of the safest cities, immediately, immediately.”

Chances of that are pretty slim. From what I'm seeing on social media and in reports today, their parents think they were in the right and plenty of other folks are taking that line, too (even if some are bots, they all aren't), their Diocese has form for covering up sexual abuse by priests, they're from economically privileged families within a white supremacist society, so there will be little disincentive for them to stop being self-entitled, bigoted scrotes who cause pain to others less-advantaged, and tend to enjoy doing so.

I've been thinking the last few weeks about what the endgame is for this shutdown. It doesn't seem to be a border wall because he's just not going to get that through Congress at the moment. To paraphrase Dana Carvey Congress is "Not gonna do it." It's certainly not an emergency in the sense that Trump means it. Its an emergency for people trapped by his policies, but he's not going ever acknowledge that. Anyone who says it is has just bought into the propaganda, or tries to convince me that I should. Here is my list of what the possibilities are. Its not all inclusive:

* Trying to "prove" that the US doesn't need "big government."
* Trying to dismantle social programs like food stamps, section 8 housing, Medicare, and social security from the inside.
* Trying to dismantle all environmental regulation by making sure there's no one on duty to enforce it
* He's doing it to scuttle the Mueller investigation. Mueller needs to run all his charges past a grand jury. With the shutdown the grand jury was dis-empaneled until the end of the shutdown. Recalling it may be difficult.
* He's a Russian agent just trying to cause as much damage as he can.
* He's going to use the shutdown as an excuse to declare martial law and "build that wall:

* He's too fucking dumb to understand the results.
