What stupid shit has Trump done today?

White House defends Trump’s NFL fixation as Puerto Rico seeks help

Like an efficient infrastructure and healthy economy would have survived the storm intact . . .

Never fails to disappoint in the insensitive, racist asshole stakes.
I 100% genuinely think he's looking for an 'out' now. He's taken on the NFL over the kneeling thing. If he gets forced out of office (however that would be done) the Russia thing will almost certainly go away and even if it doesn't he'll get pardoned anyway. The guy's got a short attention span and now knows where more of the bodies are buried. The tax cuts/deregulation/healthcare agenda (which are the real issues) will get through under Pence who with his grey christian side parting will look like a real change. Except he's not fundamentally. They'll just use the contrast between him and Trump to try and give that impression. This is circus ring/WWF show biz.

ETA: Now i think about it i reckon it might have even been planned. The GOP didn't really have any charismatic candidates other than Trump. Who isn't even a real Republican (based on his previous on the record statements). In order to advance your agenda you need to get elected first, so use that guy. The wrestling/TV personality with great ratings who polls say...as a business man...must be a safe pair of hands with the economy. Paul Ryan and Pence (neither of whom would stand a chance at POTUS...too boring) get on with the real work. Trump leaves early. He gets more money and a bit of fun/ego gratification. They get to gut healthcare and give insurance companies 100's of billions in payback.

Which doesn't make any of them stupid. Just evil.

Oh dear god, the fuckwit is going to kick off a war with a tweet

I was just thinking that basically he could tweet any unverified shit and he'll have an army of believers. And worse, he knows this. And worse, he has zero understanding of diplomacy or the lives he can put in danger by talking 140 characters of crap.

Donald Trump just deleted some embarrassing tweets after a humiliating loss

Donald Trump appears to have deleted tweets endorsing the establishment candidate Luther Strange in Alabama’s senate run-off, who was convincingly beaten in Tuesday's vote.

Mr Strange lost by nine points to Roy Moore, a controversial former judge, in the race for the Republican nomination to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ old seat...

e2a I googled Roy Moore, this CNN piece give you some idea of what they mean above by 'controversial' :(

Kushner registered in New York as a female voter

:hmm:

Presidential son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner is registered as a female voter in New York, according to public records.

Registration records show that when Kushner, who is married to first daughter Ivanka, registered to vote in 2009, he apparently checked a box classifying his gender as a female.

Democratic opposition research group American Bridge first spotted the error, which Wired then reported first.

"Kushner can't even fill out the most basic paperwork without screwing it up, so it's a mystery why anyone thinks he's somehow going to bring peace to the Middle East," Brad Bainum, a spokesperson for the group, told Wired about the mistake. "Would anyone but the president's son-in-law still have a West Wing job after repeated disclosure errors and a botched a security clearance form?"

Kushner, who has a vast portfolio of issues at the White House, has had to amend his federal security clearance forms multiple times to include meetings with foreign contacts.

He told congressional investigators that the mistakes have been due to a “miscommunication” with his assistant.

Prior to 2009, his New Jersey voter registration noted his gender as “unknown.”

Possibly the least convincing conspiracy theory on these boards since the Jazz Age

Trump administration forcing Puerto Rico evacuees to pay for airfare: report

Bastards, utter bastards

The Trump administration is reportedly forcing evacuees from Puerto Rico and Dominica to sign promissory notes ensuring full repayment for transportation costs and is keeping evacuees' passports as collateral.

MarketWatch, citing the State Department's website, reported on Thursday that the administration is using a longstanding but discretionary policy to ensure that evacuees pay transportation costs, which are based on "the price of the last commercial one-way, full-fare (not discounted) economy ticket prior to the crisis."

According to the State Department's website, the policy applies to all evacuees who boarded U.S. government aircraft or other vehicles to evacuate. Evacuees' passports will restricted until payment is received.

"Upon evacuation, a Department of State official must limit an evacuee's passport. In order to obtain a new passport, an evacuee must arrange payment as agreed upon via the promissory note," the website reads.

The reality that the NFL players on the whole make very good money and are predominantly black riles many judging from stuff on other boards I have seen
I'm increasingly realising that the subtext of a lot of Trump's 'promises' and doggerel about standing up for the man on the street etc are unspokenly about keeping black people on their place, as that's what a large chunk of his electorate would like because they think they're the oppressed ones.

'Yeah, we've only been telling you this forever' - every black person ever. :/

Yup. :(

The Racial Demagoguery of Trump’s Assaults on Colin Kaepernick and Steph Curry
“People like yourselves.” “Those people.” “Son of a bitch.” This was the same sort of racial signalling that followed the Fascist and white-supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is no longer a matter of “dog whistling.” This is a form of racial demagoguery broadcast at the volume of a klaxon. There is no need for Steve Bannon’s behind-the-scenes scriptwriting. Trump, who is desperate to distract his base from his myriad failures of policy, from health care to immigration, is perfectly capable of devising his racist rhetoric all on his own.

Blacks and whites see racism in the United States very, very differently - CNNPolitics

Half of Americans in a Public Religion Research Institute poll last June said they believe discrimination against whites is as big a problem as discrimination against blacks and other minorities. But that number is bolstered by almost six in 10 whites (57%) and two-thirds of white working-class Americans (66%). A broad majority of blacks and Hispanics disagree.

http://www.theroot.com/new-poll-finds-majority-oppose-white-supremacists-even-1809072111

In total, 39 percent of respondents agreed to some extent that white people were currently “under attack” in the U.S. Only 29 percent of white people disagreed with the statement, compared with more than half of nonwhites (54 percent).

A strong majority of Republicans agreed to some extent that white people are under attack in this country (63 percent), which isn’t altogether surprising given the racially charged—and just outright racist—rhetoric the GOP has employed through the years. But while the rate of Democrats who agreed that whites are under attack was comparatively low, at 21 percent, that still indicates that a fifth of “progressive” respondents subscribe to one of the so-called alt-right’s core beliefs.

More than half of black Americans said that the (Confederate) statues should be taken down (54 percent), but a greater portion of white people (67 percent) indicated that the monuments should stay in place.

The one thing Donald Trump gets right about race in the US

This willful ignorance is one reason why a majority of Americans might be shocked at what happened in Charlottesville but the majority of black Americans probably aren’t. To be a black person in the US is to feel constantly gaslit by our fellow citizens. There are things we know to be true because we experience them daily — we get harassed by police for nothing more than driving down a street; we make less money than our white peers; our lives are so devalued that it causes a national backlash when we argue that they matter; our states and towns still proudly honor the treasonous movement that fought to keep our ancestors enslaved.

Really, wtf?

Republicans enlist lone black senator to push their tax plan with jive and regrettable hashtag

So when Scott speaks in jive — street vernacular popularly imagined to be common among black folks — to support the president’s tax plan, he’s not really sending a message to poor, working-class or black Americans. No, he’s playfully entertaining wealthy white folks who stand to benefit the most from Trump’s plan.
Taken as a whole, the Trump plan remains a mysterious work in progress. In fact, nobody knows for sure how the plan would help middle- or low-income taxpayers because what has been released thus far lacks details about the tax plan’s costs or specifics on how working people would benefit from it.

What is clear is that the tax plan would greatly benefit the wealthiest Americans — including the president himself, contrary to his claims otherwise — because repeal the estate tax and eliminate the alternative minimum tax.

US Health Secretary Tom Price has resigned over the use of expensive private planes for official business.

He previously apologised after making 24 private flights since May at a cost of $300,000 (£223,000) to taxpayers.

Government officials, except those dealing with national security matters, are required to take commercial flights for work related travel.

Three other members of President Donald Trump's cabinet are under scrutiny for using private planes while working.

A White House statement said President Trump had accepted Mr Price's resignation.

The statement said Mr Trump had designated Don J Wright as acting health secretary.

US health secretary Tom Price quits

How many are we up to now? I've lost count.

Can only find the video in a tweet, so apologies, but the transcript is in the article below. Fuck, Trump's fans are calling this fake news and he's still tweeting about the island's debt and how they'll pay for the recovery, before going off to play golf again. I want him and all his backers to die a slow, painful death by rats gnawing at their genitals.:mad::mad:

San Juan mayor's harrowing plea: 'Mr Trump, I am begging. We are dying here'

“I will do what I never thought I was going to do: I am begging. I am begging anyone that can hear us to save us from dying. If anybody out there is listening to us, we are dying. And you are killing us with the inefficiency and bureaucracy.

“We will make it with or without you because what stands behind me is all due to the generosity of other people.

“Again, this is what we got last night: four pallets of water, three pallets of meals and 12 pallets of infant food. Which, I gave them to Comerío, where people are drinking out of a creek.

“So I am done being polite. I am done being politically correct. I am mad as hell because my people’s lives are at stake. And we are but one nation. We may be small, but we are huge in dignity and zealous for life.

“So I’m asking members of the press to send a mayday call all over the world. We are dying here. And if we don’t stop and if we don’t get the food and the water into people’s hands, what we we are going to see is something close to a genocide.
