What new foods have you tried recently?

Home made bread. But it doesn't agree with me. I've even tried a mix of Wholemeal, Strong Brown (whatever that is!) and Pitza Base. I have lived on Supermarket Bread for 35 years and something in its steam cooked blandness has left me unprepared for 'real bread' Real bread from Bakeries is OK.. Home made is utterly delicious but gives me indigestion and clashes with my rainbow of Happy Pills. Feel hyped, weird and spaced. Might be the yeast?

I could eat my home made bread all day ... it's been quite a few years, but shop bread never affected me either.

I do rather like unleavened wholemeal chapatis though - if bread ever gave me heartburn, that never did.

Have you tried other flours like spelt?

Bought some bee pollen yesterday from Aldi. Never seen that on sale before, and have no idea what it will taste like.

I had pandan for the first time recently in a Thai restaurant, in a pancake filled with coconut. It was really good - not very sweet or strong. So I bought some coconut and pandan kaya (kind of sweet paste jam type thing), which is foul, and some jade buns, which were lush.

Red quinoa - first time I've cooked it ever. Blimey it bulks up a lot - one small glass cooks up to more than 4 hefty portions. Nice, but mild nutty flavour. Important to cook it with not too much liquid, so it doesn't go mushy but the grains stay distinct and fluffy. I love the sort of micro-ball texture it has - the little grains are just that bit smaller than rice, so it feels different to chew - but some might find it gritty/not right. It's really filling (maybe because of the protein content.) Probably nicer sprinkled into other things than just piled up alone. Will eat the rest of the packet happily enough but probably won't buy again. (It's also expensive and messing up livelihoods in the Andes for producers so a bit ethically iffy as well.)

I've been testing different baked beans and I find I actually very much like Branstons
When I tried them before they tasted like they actually had pickle in them.

... speaking of which, I have a slight urge to buy some - being mostly a veggie I don't eat the sort of food that can take really strong pickle, but I think I'm going to try :)

Branstons are my favourite baked beans, after Bachelors. There's no decent baked beans here, I may have to search out Heinz...

Literally too many to mention! Embracing veganlife wholeheartedly, so trying lots of stuff I can't pronounce!

Lately, jackfruit has made repeat appearances as I learn it's many applications. Mexican, Thai, syrup-drenched with soya ice cream....

Chia seeds, still not sure what they taste of but I'm slamming 'em in chillis and curries and such for extra protein and bite.

Tiff flour with which I made pancakes the other night, very decent flour option but that was a whoopsie at Mozzers, doubt I'd buy it at full price.

Egg aubergines, mooli salad, soya yoghurt (OK, I suppose, bit gloopy but good on fruit with some nuts on top) and I made bliss balls the other night, they are fit as fuck and I'll be doing them again (oats, dates, crushed nuts, Maple syrup, cocoa and orange oil in mine, bit like chewy chocolate orange balls of bountiful guilt-free vegan fabulousness that taste the same way an honest conversation with a close friend on a sunny day can feel.)

At the weekend I had padron peppers = the best thing I've tried for ages

And custard apple(?) = smelly with weird texture and v v sweet, but not bad. I wouldn't buy again, though.

Tomato ketchup
I hadn't had it since I was a kid really ..,tends to swamp the minimalist vegan food I eat.

Tesco's own brand in a jar - it even has seeds in it.
A rare Tesco generic bargain at £1 though it may well go mouldy a lot more quickly than the squirty stuff.

EDIT:- it's CHUTNEY !!!!

Buttermilk - amazing and delicious, plus vaguely probiotic.
Sour milk - bought in the supermarket as I thought it was buttermilk but no it's sour milk down to the lumps. By the end of the bottle I was really enjoying it.

After multiple people being surprised that I only used my aloe vera gel externally, I relented and bought a bottle ... :p

Only slightly less weird-tasting - at least I can identify tangerine as part of the flavour :-

Canederli - an Alpine Italian Tyrol dumpling thing, like a hybrid of gnocchi and german bread dumplings, made with lots of bits of smoked ham and parmesan (because it's Italy not Germany), in broth. Nice. Cheesier than expected. Bit like a Spanish ham croquet, but poached instead of fried. 7/10, gnocchi are still better.

Working my way through the box of individually packed tea bags and other assorted shit I've collected through my inability to say no to anything free.

Verbena tea is alright, probably won't buy more but I'll happily drink the rest.

Loong tea is weird and not in a good way

Wheat grass juice powder is fucking grim, I stuck a tiny bit in some juice and it was almost undrinkable
