I don’t like making porridge in the microwave. It acts weird. It becomes a living organism, like the single cell creatures that fall on Spock’s back in Operation Annihilate. I much prefer the hob.Porridge, same as ever.
But our microwave is out of action so I'm having to make it on the hob like it's medieval times.
Sad days
I'll have to go back to hob now I've moved but for the last year I've been doing mine with pinhead oats in a pan on top of the multifuel stove overnightBut our microwave is out of action so I'm having to make it on the hob like it's medieval times.

Yea I'm happy for chef Mike to cook my oats. Massive bowl for sure. I also thicken and water them down (with milk since im a heathen and not properly Scottish) 3 times over, takes about 7 mins with rest time for that soft and creamy readybrek appeal before giving it a good dollop of honey or nutella like a proper wrongun.I find the texture is more to my liking.
And I use a huge bowl so it doesn't overflow

This again.Homemade muesli.
You don't really need a recipe for muesli. I go roughly 50% oats, 50% everything else: dried fruit, nuts, seeds, coconut flakes, whatever you fancy. I usually include: seed mix, raisins, chopped apricots, brazils, walnuts, cranberries, coconut flakes. Banana chips are nice but a mistake if you're going to soak it.Recipe?

Today I had what a friend calls porridge pancakes: apple and oat pancakes with Greek yoghurt, raspberries and maple syrup.
No. It hadn't occurred to me that you could without the oil and honey involved in granola, but as I don't favour granola I wouldn't anyway.Do you toast yours in the oven?
Toasted oats are better than raw oats. They’re the basis of lots of recipes, like cranachan: Classic cranachan recipeNo. It hadn't occurred to me that you could without the oil and honey involved in granola, but as I don't favour granola I wouldn't anyway.
