What are you baking?

Help again! I don't know what to charge per cake. Do I say pay what you like? Or what. Agggghhhhh, stress!

I so far have a lemon drizzle traybake which may actually be nice, an overdone plain sponge which has split a bit but has buttercream and smarties, have choc sponge yet to cover in some kind of chocolate and sweet thing, friend (who can bake) is making fairy cakes, another friend has made brownies. I have to make something vegan, and thought I'd make coconut ice as have the ingredients and isn't baking. Am hoping that's enough.

Ahh ok, I thought it was an after school bake sale or something. :)
I reckon if there's tea and coffee available you could charge 50p-£1 depending on the cake.
I'd leave a tub for donations as well. Could you raffle off a bottle of plonk as well? Guess the name of a teddy or something?

No, its just a small friends invited round to ours thing. I don't suppose we'll raise much, its more that the kids have a sense of being able to do stuff about something they care about. I'm a bit anxious because this is the kind of thing that makes me anxious. WHAT IF IT ALL GOES WRONG?!

:D

Thanks for your help everyone :)

It's not a Nigella recipe, but one posted by a 'community member' i.e. a random! Unless Biddlybee meant she couldn't see my pic, which she often can't. That said, How to Eat doesn't have any pictures.

We made pear and ginger muffins today. There was some mix leftover, so I sliced some stem ginger and stirred in some of the syrup and made a small flat cake too :D
Aye was your pic, still can't see it. Think it's that google+ business again.

It won't, I think it's a lovely idea, especially as it's come from your daughter. Hope you have fun. :)

Where in London is good for cake decorating bits? Ideally south or central.

I could order online, but really want to make some things on Saturday

Isn't there a shop on Northcote Road which does that type of thing? Failing that, the Wimbledon sewing machine shop (can't remember the exact name, but it's next to the sewing machine museum) near Tooting Bec Station (also within walking distance of Balham tube) does all manner of cake decoration stuff including fondant cutters, bases, nozzles, professional colouring, and bits to add on.

Also try the kitchen section (and maybe the food hall) of John Lewis on Oxford St.

Ah, sorry, I mean the decorations target than tools.

I don't know northcote road at all, will have a search, ta.
