What are you baking?

Some delicious vegan buns. Chocolate and banana. I never used to bake, but since I got the Ms Cupcake book Maggot recommended, I've not looked back.
I even messed with the recipe, and took out half the oil and put a mashed banana in instead, and they've come out really nice.
 
Week 12’s effort was inspired by existentialist’s misunderstanding of one of my previous ingredients. ‘That would be absurd’ I think I said, but I did have to check and, lo and behold, it was possible.

Two recipes, but I’ve done a few apple cakes lately so thought I’d play safe and go with the chocolate version. To be honest, it’s come out a bit heavy (not sure what effect using glutinous rather than non-glutinous flour had) and I’m not really sure what the magic ingredient adds or saves on, but it is definitely possible and pretty nice if reheated slightly in a microwave.

I doubt I’ll be rushing back to Lentil Chocolate Brownies, but it’s okay.

That wasn't a misunderstanding, so much as mischief :) but I am now extremely curious to know what they're like!
 
Week 13, the baker’s dozen. I had thought of making this the final one, but there are still things I have to try.... So this week it’s another vegetable that I would generally consider just this side of utterly vile. Would two teaspoons of freshly grated nutmeg be enough to counterbalance the yuck factor?

Yes it would, in fact it comes out quite gingery, despite the complete lack of ginger.

Rutabaga Nutmeg Cake with Brown Butter Frosting is delish, who’d have thunk it?
