What animals/wildlife have you seen today?

I heard foxes shagging last night. But it was quite full on. It was about 4 am. The usual ecstatic jabbering. But there was also a banging sound with each thrust that went on for like ten minutes. Quite fierce and rapid. Followed by triumphant barks.

They only live for two or three years so I didn't want to disturb them.

Local village has a small starling murmuration some evenings, I can often hear them but occasionally they are on the wing.
I quite like to hear them, but close to they are very loud ...
There's a similar flock that congregate on the "crow's nest" in WhiteOrangehaven Marina.

I gave up counting ... but that's about 3/4 of the usual crowd, they were still arriving. Latecomers have to perch on the wires. Probably discussing the best lawns to perforate for lunch tomorrow ...

Think I saw a sparrowhawk last night but it was far away and not at a good angle to be confident in an ID. Something raptor-y anyway.

Passed a raven that seemed to have an injured wing and possibly leg this morning but it was mobile enough not to be able to get close for a proper look. Was on my way to feed the chickens so I chucked a bit of food down for it and I'll keep an eye out when I'm back later.

Today there was a fucking massive bumblebee bimbling around outside my window.

I think when I rule the world transport will be via fucking massive bumblebees. They are nice. They are furry. It will be great.

OOoh exciting, probably a new queen from the last brood of the summer, she'll be looking for somewhere safe to hibernate over winter.
She'll already have mated ready to find and found a new nest and lay eggs in the spring, for now she is eating as much as possible to see her through any cold weather in a burrow underground ❤️

I'd never seen one til I moved to London, first one from the DLR at Canary Wharf.

Every time I go to Canary Wharf I see a pair in the water there, have done for years (not sure whether the same pair mind you!) - it seems to be a good spot for them.
Probably quite sheltered and warm compared to other places.
