What animals/wildlife have you seen today?

I reckon that’s in the wild, if it’s the pond in your garden. They’re not owned by you, and may go to another pond in due course and that would be their own choice

I suppose I would count “in the wild” as not being owned by anyone so not a pet and not an animal on a farm. So it could be a deer or a hedgehog in a garden, but not a cat. A “beast of Bodmin” would probably be ok.

I'd heard reports they are about but had not seen.

eta...Apparently there are babies!!

A tawny owl flew past me really close today. Was very cool.

And I started a hare which was also really close, but not as cool as the owl.

But I also saw live stuff, 7 billion pheasants. An egret. A buzzard. Many squirrels. Mallards.

Think I saw two great bustards at the end of the road yesterday. Size and shape was right and they are found locally but rare. Only an orchard past the road then the mountains of the forest park.

I've seen a few mentions of bustards on Salisbury plain on some birding groups. I'd like to see them but would probably end up being shot or runover by a tank

The old place next door which my flats overlook has an increasing number of squirrels living. First thing in the morning is usually the best time to grab my camera and try and get a picture from the window...

Yesterday, walking across Exmoor a short-eared owl took off just feet from us. It was mid-day so I expect it was sleeping and we'd disturbed it. If it had stayed put, we'd have had no idea. Never been so close to one before and the rest of the birdlife was clearly unaware of it, because there was a bit of a kerfuffle among the crows when it popped up. Went to ground a few hundred yards from us and we didn't see it again. Really special.

Baby lizards , spotted two , one in the bathroom yesterday and one just outside the front door this morning. The adults tend to live behind the shutters, around the plant pots or in the gas bottle shed.

Saw a muntjac at the side of the road. It was standing in the hedgerow watching traffic.

Also, these feral goats that live in the Valley of Rocks, Exmoor. Largely indifferent to people. It's their turf.

2 white squirrels have taken residency somewhere on my road, I thought one was rare then the other one popped by this morning with their mate

Saw a new male pheasant this morning [neck pattern is different]
and it is now more interesting to be in the garage as the house martins have fledged another brood ...
[I had to wash the m/bike yesterday after the youngsters left deposits on the tank and seat ! that reminds me I need to put the cover on it every XXXXX time]
