What animals/wildlife have you seen today?

As I trundled up to bed at about 1am this morning, I was drawing the curtains when I noticed a fox skulking in the middle of the road. Nothing unusual about that, apart from it had noticed something under a car. A cat I thought.....but no it was a rat emerging from under the car. They touched noses and had a little play and as the rat went under another car the fox was waiting patiently for it. 😄

Probably not :( but tbh it'll stand as good a chance alone there as it will being returned to our garden, where the mum is presumably nearby but so are two very predatory cats.

Bloody cats. Mine are on kill overdrive too. Do you have a hedgehog centre nearby? They might take it if you haven't already taken it to the nature reserve.

The Button spotted a water vole the other day. They live in the nature reserve nearby. They are much bigger than I thought! They are about the size of a rat but more stocky with a furry tail, and the colour of. Chocolate lab.

He filled in the online form for London Wildlife Trust. Coincidentally Crossness Nature Reserve (where he spotted it) are recruiting volunteers to attend the mink trap when the alarm goes off. Minks prey on water voles and there are some in nearby Darenth apparently.

I didn't see it but my camera did ♥️ I've been feeding it for a while but it had been MIA for about a week, so I investigated the back gardens and my neighbour is doing building work and had blocked access, trapping the poor hedgehog in his garden. So we dug a little tunnel and it's back!

Fruit flies - bastards. :grr:
Quite a few suicided in an open jar of pickle juice yesterday.
And the "fruit" bit is somewhat imprecise - the seem drawn to my cooking pot and I'm certain I've eaten a few - though the cycle ride before dinner often involves crashing through huge swarms of their relatives...
