Want but can't has thread

Not normally my thing at all but saw this vintage solid silver cowboy's belt buckle on Ebay and decided I needed it. Auction went up to £50 so I didn't win, then it got listed again the next day. No explanation, but I bid again and won it for £22. The seller then asked to cancel it as they say they can't find it. Sounds like a swizz to me, they normally go for more money so I refused to cancel. They got Ebay to cancel it and refunded my money, then they told me to choose anything from their shop of similar value with more than 2 auction days left and they'd send it to me free.
Bit suspicious, but I chose something, no idea if I'll receive it. Got my money back too. Still want but can't has the buckle though.

Saw a guy wearing these on the train the other day and really liked them, but no idea what this type of shoe is called so can't investigate (no, I couldn't ask him, I don't do talking :p). Any ideas?

It's a bit late but if you're wondering those shoes are called variously: pumps, canvas shoes and plimsolls. There may be other names, too.

Mostly they're very cheap (£15ish) and even the most expensive ones don't tend to go much above about £50. I'd guess yours would cost about £25 if you found them.

Here's some vaguely samilar ones.

Nice one, at least it gives me something to search for

Got a birthday coming up and my mum's been pestering me to let her buy me some shoes since Christmas :D

Levis jeans.
Some Birkenstock Arizona sandals.
Design your own Converse.

Turns out I'm a bit of a label whore in my own way :) Anyway, can't has.

I just ordered some bookcases from ikea and ideally I'd like another, uh, column (?) but I don't think I can has until I have access to some willing driver who will pick it up for me. Bah. Also I'd like a 7ft black out roller blind and a painter and decorator who is handy with a screwdriver/drill.

Redundancy. Useless company has given all the money to a pile of useless fuckers to get rid of them while the rest of us do the work. Well fucked off!

I've hovered over the buy button on some design your own adidas, but I'm scared they'll look rubbish and/or not fit.

Plus £70 for Sambas? can't has!
Yeah, the design your own Converse that I want are the second most expensive ones. £66. But they have zips!

Maybe by the time I'm rich enough to afford them, they'll start making them in my size (UK 9)
Also this coat (600 quid or so on ebay)

I think the model looks aces too- what inspired me to try steampunk style was seeing a really awesome looking woman in her 50s with pure white hair wearing full steampunk gear, on the platform of Kings Cross station in 2011. It's a look I want to keep rocking into my 80s :)

A competent, reasonably priced, non sexist builder/general handyperson who can just sort out a load of different problems (electrical, drainage, roofing related) for me without making me want to tear out my own hair rather than call another company for a quote.

A website that sells cheap jiu jitsu and grappling stuff is doing a rolling deals thing where there's a new offer every 20mins or when the last one sells out. The only thing stopping me spending all the money on my bank account is the fact that by the time I've gone off and converted the price into £ my size is sold out.

Done well it can do exactly that. Saw a woman a while ago, must have been 60ish, frock coat, hat that was the shape of a top hat but shorter, long skirt, boots - looked fucking fabulous

Maybe it was the same person! Was this in London?
I've maybe got a few years left of rocking a look like this

But I'm 31 now and it can't go on forever.

No this was in Somerset. You may look awesome as a trance bunny but I doubt this lady would have even countenanced such a look :D

The fashion Gods are trolling me. I want these trainers and though I can't afford it, I'm willing to pay still, but I can't find them anywhere

Not for sale in UK. Sold out everywhere abroad in my size except ONE shop, which has a sale on currently, making them super cheap (even when shipping from USA) but their site looks a bit suspect and when I went to put in my credit card details I noticed they weren't using https.

want :(

I SO BADLY want these boots. I've even found them online here for under £30 so technically I could have these boots. But Mr Yu reckons that the elasticated sides are going to make them too cold to wear in the - 20 C and below winters here. :( I am so bored of having to wear functional, ugly boots all winter.

Yu_Gi_Oh Any melting snow deeper than a couple of inches will leak through the elastic sides, also they slip like bastards in ice, so they may not be the most practical for you. This message was brought to you by the bitter voice of experience. :(

Oh, moose, no no no. :( :( :( I was actually going to throw caution to the wind and buy them today. I can't stop thinking about them.  You're right about the snow though. They don't clear it here, for some reason  so I do end up tramping through feet of the stuff. What if I waterproofed the elastic bits? :hmm: With scotchguard spray stuff? Do you think that would stop them leaking?

Well if they're the same as mine, the elastic is quite 'open' in its weave, so I don't think it would stop it unfortunately. Sorry to piss on your chips, but they're really not great in the ice and wet :( You could buy them for wear at other times of year though :hmm:

No, it's good that you've told me. It's generally boiling hot or freezing cold here so I guess I'll give them a miss and keep looking for a more sensible pair of boots.
