Victorinox vs Gerber vs Leatherman

The chances of any of those needing repairing are really quite slim TBH, they're all quality products. :)

You need to be doing something that the knife wasn't designed to do to snap it I reckon :D

Unless it's a Leatherman and blade snaps :D

in which case you can send it to service centre in Cumbria as opposed to Oregon (for Gerber) and get it replaced a lot faster than a Gerber

My blade snapped because I was doing something stupid. Can't remember what but it was definitely my fault. No questions were asked by Leatherman.

I really hope that's with a springer and not a PCP Firks ;) and doing that wouldn't make it a perfectly legal .22 now would it? you could be looking 5 years

My parents bought me an air rifle for Christmas when I was about 14 (it's considered normal in the country hehe), and my dad put an extra spring inside taking it well over the legal limit. You needed a fire-arms licence for it. It would go through a steel dustbin and once as I discovered car doors! Had a silencer for it, telescopic sites and a bi-pod. It would take a rabbit down at 70 yards and probably further but the accuracy was shot after that point.

Then one day I had a change of conscience and have never been able to shoot anything again!

Police saw me many a time with it slung over my back walking through the village on my way to shoot bunnies. Never once got stopped. It's a bit sad how things have changed so much. If a kid did that now he'd probably trigger an armed response unit and social services to shit themselves. :(

Your dad's car door? :hmm:

You're brave, admitting you're a bunny killer on U75

There's no probably about it now - I'm still into shooting, but target shooting - ALL of my guns are chrono'd and all are well under the legal limit -OB can check a rifle and make any adjustments they like to see if a rifle is CAPABLE of being over 12 ft lbs - granted, there's NO case of a legitimate shooter being nicked

Same with knives, what is "reasonable cause" for having a locking knife - how about not want to have a blade close on your fingers when using a pen knife? sounds reasonable to me

She does seem to like the Leatherman anad Gerber over Victorinox. Her first choice was the first one on this page and she was asking if I could find it any cheaper, but have had no joy, so was coming up with similar alternatives

I'm from the countryside too. I shot my mate Neil in the back with an air gun once. It's sort of a rite of passage round here. Never did me any harm. :D Neil did go on to become a police marksman, though, thinking about it. I've argued myself into a corner here, haven't I?

Are you still friends? Maybe he became a marksmen to get revenge on you one day? :hmm:

Nowt wrong with killing AND EATING bunnies IMO

There's the very real connection between what's on your plate and how it gets there - meat does not come from a chiller unit in Tesco's cut from a 'styrene tray

I know, but there's lots of vegetarians on here :D

I'm not one of them though

I've had about 3 Waves. All lost/stolen at work.

I also have a little pink one my cousin gave me and a Super tool 300 that I bought in the states because it was sooooo cheap that I had to buy it.

I am coveting that H&K one that Firky posted up though. It's rather swish and i've got a thing about torches as well.

Thieves! I'd go round to their houses and trash them 'til you found them

I bought a torch from the £1 shop last year. It doesn't work

These guys sell good torches relatively cheap. They are a few quid but equivalent to much more expensive torches.

/off topic

Don't worry about being off topic. I reckon people might like torches as Christmas presents as well ;)

I'd like a little one just to see in my electric meter cupboard, but also one for when it gets dark at night and I might want to be doing stuff in the garden (which is very rare, but sometimes it happens). I could get one of those movement detector ones, but you have to wire those up don't you? Suppose it would also need to double up as emergency lighting in event of power cuts. Have wondered about those wind-up ones but they're rather big and bulky and ugly

If you get one of the LED ones with a rechargeable battery it will pay for itself because you won't have to keep buying batteries.

I'm not a fan of the wind ups. And the concept of a solar powered torch seems a bit mental. I know it works but still....

Yeah, definitely don't want to keep buying batteries

If it takes separate batteries, then you aren't dependant on finding a mains outlet when it fails. That and you can get rechargeable AAs.

I do think when it comes to torches though, there is a definite case for having separate tools for the job!

I'm going to have to start looking at torch porn now aren't I

Budget? Usage? :p

Low budget.

erm, I just like them and want one. Smallish one for looking in meter cupboard (although obviously it doesn't have to be small). Bigger one for doing things like changing lightbulb in the dark and for power cuts and for use in garden if needs be. Heavy duty one for bashing burglar over the head (only joking) :D
