US election 2012

:D Christie is doing exactly the right thing as NJ Governor by fucking off the campaign stuff, and with his reported antipathy to Romney is probably going to look back on this as a job well done in sticking the boot in. I do actually, weirdly, feel that he's not playing politics but recognises his state just got really, really bloody damaged.
i'd say it's both. he's been doing proper gubernatorial things but he's also been saying some indirect but pretty sharp things about romney. and then last night, i'm told, he was on channel 5 (local fox) and was asked "now that you've escorted obama around the state, aren't you going to invite romney?" and the smoke was coming out his ears.

conveniently forgetting that BO is, you know, actually the President. With Presidential things to do, like overseeing disaster relief and that

very true, however in the Fox news clip where Christie is asked about whether Romney was going to visit - franticly trying to get him to say something good about Romney - the utter contempt in Christies words about how he couldn't care less about what Mittens was going to do was 'somewhat illustrative'.

that was far beyond the bare reporting that Obama could give him money, fuel, air assets etc while Romney could only say 'well done'.

Really cant be arsed to read this whole thread - but Obama winning would be loads better for the world than Romney winning. If Romney won it would be a total fucking nightmare.

Sorry if this has been posted before.

Saw this article and it got me thinking, how likely is it that we see a repeat of Florida 2000 in Ohio this time round? If the whole election comes down to Ohio, which it might, then I really wouldn't put it past the Ohio Republicans on a state and local level to go for full-on fraud and disenfranchisement. It's probably their best chance of winning at this point.

It won't come down to Ohio, it's just that Romney can't win without it. If Obama loses Ohio, he can still win with Nevada, Colorado, & Virginia. It's going to be fine :)

Glad someone is confident, most media pundits seem to think it will be nip and tuck.

Washington Redskins lose. Coincidence indicates Romney wins. Redskins win at home before elections, incumbent party/candidate remains. Except Nixon.

Interesting views there :D Especially enjoyed the idea that Romney is going to win in Pennsylvania and Minnesota :D

Obama with 300+ EC votes and a 3 point margin in the popular vote. Anybody else care to predict?

Romney to take NC and possibly Florida. No other swing state though

Not done my chart yet, but will get back soon-ish.

I'll colour my prediction a little: Obama only gets to 300+ if he takes Florida (touch and go). Even so, Nevada, Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Michigan are all in the bag, Ohio is looking very good, I think Colorado will come through - just - and Virginia should fall to BO as well.

I really cannot see Romney getting close at all

If Obama wins the Electoral College but not the popular vote (which is possible) - maybe then there will be calls to change the system - the republicans seemed to forget to do anything about this when Bush lost to Gore on the popular vote, but won on the Electoral College.

New Hampshire is another one Romney wont get.

Obama will win - 1-3% national lead. About 300 EC votes. He'll get Ohio but not Florida.

corrected for you

Yep, NH will go blue.

Florida is just painfully close isn't it? This time around the electoral college maths seems to imply that it won't matter anyway (it is all about Ohio - if Romney wins there then he should easily have Florida anyway), but christ the polls are ridiculously close there
