Urban Clubbing Club

My night was disappointingly meh. I have not had my dancing itch scratched.

Any recommendations for London Detroit house or the deeper side of techno/electro? So many artists I love playing at UK festivals but I can't get to them and I don't love festivals.

Glenn Underground playing the Jazz Cafe in September, would he be like when Chez Damier plays there, 4 killer hours of an amazing and varied wonderful house music journey?

Kai Alce is my #1 "want to see" house DJ - I would not miss this if I lived in London

What I really want to do is see Dopplereffekt live but it's this weekend at a festival in Norfolk so no chance.

Was supposed to be in bed by now but got sucked into a Youtube algorithm find, and it was brilliant. Utah Saints taking some Kiwi on a tour of Leeds clubs of yesteryear. I've lived here a long time so knew a lot of these (and have been to some!) but it was a proper education.

Sadly, the city isn't the same now - like lots of places. But bitd it was absolutely boss.

Just checked my ticket and this is tonight not tomorrow, Laurent Garnier. Good thing it's close by, best have a coffee.
I saw Laurent Garnier at We Out Here on Saturday and he was one of the highlights of the festival. I've seen him loads so wasn't too bothered, and it was an early set (5pm) so thought it might be a bit meh. Turns out he played exactly what was needed. 3hrs of perfectly pitched, fun music. Edged a bit too close to cheesey at times for me, but it all made sense. Had the crowd in the palm of his hands. Everyone went nuts.

Properly good. Hope you have a good 'un!

I had an excellent time, danced the entire set.
Actually I've never seen Garnier before so had no idea he was THAT Detroit. Everyone told me he would play all genres but it was actually Detroit house and techno wall to wall with the occasional song mixed in.
First track was a shout out to the Detroit greats with a voiceover saying their names. Then one and a half hours of deep deep house, which was sublime. The sort of music no one really plays out.
Second half was all techno with quite a few classics and good fun.

I'll be back to Phonox in October for Marcellus Pitman.

I watched a documentary about him last year at the film festival here and it was excellent. Nice guy with an interesting history. Well worth a watch if you want to know more about him :)

I am so at this...

Its in Hull, part of a 'Hacienda' club tour.
Aaaahhh I see. Well I probably won't be at it then. I knew the actual Hacienda was knocked down but I was thrown off because there's a club called (having just checked) FAC251 - Factory Manchester where the old Factory Records offices were. And also because pretty much everything in Manchester is called Factory this or that nowadays.

I think Hook is behind both the FAC251 club and the ongoing 'Hacienda' nights. Everytime I've walked past those flats I wished they could have retained the old place in some form. I only ever got the Hac once in 1996 and so already past halycon days but before it closed!
