Urban Clubbing Club

That still sounds like too much hard work, I only go out about 3 or 4 times a year.

I will just have to rely on you lot to tell me. Fez909 is quite a good scout.
I have my Dice set to London as that's the last place I bought a ticket for (Jazz Cafe) so it recommends me things for there, even though I live in Leeds. Also, just what OU said: RA and surprisingly, Facebook. Even though FB is boomer central these days, it's still the best thing for events I find.

How are you alerted from FB, through friends? I really only use FB professionally for special interest groups.

I reckon I could play jumbi. It's one deck? Confusing
One turntable is in the sound system tradition! No messing around with two decks and mixing, all about the selection!

Peckham? What’s the venue like?
It's cute. Definitely more bar than club. I thought the soundsystems in the main bar doesn't dnt sound great :hmm: I'm no real judge of such things though. Seemed very one sided?

stethoscope ah ok. I know they have the blurb about the selection being the focus. It wasn't working for me on that night in that setting. Possibly because I was primed for Finn and some pumping house from the early 90s :D Diana Ross Upsidedown was never gonna hit it!

There's a second bar area which had two decks and was a bit more pacey but I just wasn't feeling it.

Was super early to Carpetshop. Loved the stuff Finn played, really like his energy and selections. The other DJ was a bit more jersey club and dropped a few tracks that jarred...mainstream stuff. The crowd seemed happy enough. I was grinning ear to ear at some points though as it was just pure excellent early-mid 90s house n garage which is what I went there for.

Now so tired.

I've just had an amazing clubbing experience, but in a theatre.

It's called Club Life. Former DJ and member of Lemon Jelly, Fred Deakin tells the story of his life through his DJ and club experiences from DJing at awkward teenage parties to putting on clubs for thousands of people. He recreates these nights with the help of some dancers and the audience. Getting up and dancing is optional, but when we went about 90% of the audience did. Lots of people dressed up for it too. It was sooooo good. It's only on for another week at the Clapham Omnibus.

Just read about this in Jockey Slut - had me intrigued

Friends who have nights invite me to their events. And if you go to the events tab, it shows you events you might be interested in based on previous events you've attended. And it also shows me events which friends have said they're attending.

All of this is dependent on using Facebook in a way that you don't currently, by the sound of it. I don't like giving Facebook all of this info but it is genuinely useful to me, so it's a worthwhile trade off.

You could set up a second (semi anonymous) account, just for music related stuff and go all in with the algorithm? It's a bit trickier these days as Facebook wants to prove you're real. But it's possible as a mate did it.

I definitely don't want to set up another account or use mine socially. I'm old so most of my friends who used to promote, don't any more. And many if them go out infrequently and then often to something similar to what I like but not exactly.

So, Fez, it's up to you. Let me know if you see anything good for 13, 14, 21 or 27 December 😂
Typically Bodyhammer the 7th when I can't go.

My out out yesterday didn't go very well. It was an 11-10pm event. Arrived at just after 5 to a venue with 5 ambulances outside. We got in, used the cloakroom, got to the bar which promptly shut, moved to the dancefloor. Lights came on and it shut early. :/ I hope it wasn't a death.

ETA: Someone did die. :(
Was this Andy Farley at XOYO by any chance? There has been lots of sad comments online about a death in the older, day rave crowd in London concerning a popular individual who died that weekend. Sad to hear.

I am looking for something that night as kids away and Phonox ideal because it's local. But I don't know anything about Raresh.
Also looking for something to do on the 27th, night time. Tempted by Fabric as its Joseph Capriati hosting room 1 and Alan Fitzpatrick room 2. Not sure I can arsed with gauntlet of Fabric's security these days though.

I absolutely cannot be arsed with Fabric, could barely be arsed with it 20 years ago when at least I could get in for free.

Yes.

And I'm not plugged in so I don't know who died but I'm a regular so I recognise most people at these events. :(

Going to Outernet under Denmark Street this weekend for first time. Newness and size puts me off 🧐 but heard some ok reports. Charlie Dark & Paul Woolford 👍

Also bought some tix for Ian Pooley at the Jazz Cafe next May as £5. He made some good tunes back in the day.
Had a really goodnight at Outernet with v into it friendly crowd and great music, particularly Charlie Dark and Paul Woodford banging out the jacking house til 5.
Not quite sure about the venue though, it’s one big room, lacking any character, lots of space but no where to have a sit down in the whole place which seemed a bit weird. The dj is up on a big stage, looked like at a trestle table! Oddly lacking sophistication for a new venue.

Pluses, it’s accessible with lift and a dedicated accessible area by the dance floor and was good to see some punters in wheelchairs on the dance floor. A big long bar so quick to get served.
Staff were all friendly and unobtrusive. Bar staff happy to give lots of free water.
Decent sound system I think.
As a distinguished older raver, I’d take the Jazz Cafe any day with the DJ booth on the floor and some nooks and crannies.

Having slagged off Fabric and saying I'd never set foot in there previously, I have now bought a ticket for Theo Parrish 8hr set because I can't find anything else to go to in December and how bad can Fabric be on a Sunday.
Hoping I actually make it as I'll need a babysitter.

Apparently it was decent yesterday for Peach and Strawberry Sundae. These events on Saturday daytime are classed as private events though, so I think security are a bit more relaxed.

What time is it? Daytime?

Was supposed to be doing the after party for DiY's 35th Bday (Christ I feel old) on Saturday (DiY Jack and Frandanski from Smokescreen), but can't make it now.

2 free tickets to anyone who wants them

9:00 PM - 4:00 AM
Venue: The Loft at Low Profile Studios, N4 1PT

sorry about that. I absolutely LOVED the place tbh, only complaint is it was very full... but I found a corner by a speaker and then the whole evening whizzed by, it was decent house, reminded me if Smokescreen parties... nice old crowd too. will def go again in december. ending at 10pm is awesome too.
Can you elaborate a bit more on the music played? I have been offered a ticket for the December one and tempted because I'm free and it's down the road.
