The Right Sector has announced it will begin "cooperating" with Ukrainian trade unions. As part of this cooperation, the ultra-nationalists are planning on "placing Ukrainian trade union activities under our control", to prevent oligarchs from using workers for their political purposes

Sounds a bit like the Falange.

Oh blimey.

"We are to undertake extremely unpopular steps as the previous government and previous president were so corrupted that the country is in a desperate financial plight," Mr Yatsenyuk told BBC Ukrainian.

"We are on the brink of a disaster and this is the government of political suiciders! So welcome to hell," he added.

However, some of the nominations - including that of Mr Avakov - prompted loud booing from the crowd, who said those candidates were not worthy of government posts.

People also chanted "Yarosh! Yarosh!", demanding that the leader of the Right Sector, Dmytro Yarosh, be given a post.

Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov argued from the Maidan stage that without governing structures, the country would descend into "anarchy". But he, too, was interrupted and booed.

"The Maidan is here to stay. If they (new ministers) betray us, we will pay a visit to every one of them," a local Maidan commander warned.

You're defending all the millionaires who have stolen the land," shouted one angry Tatar. The Russians responded with a taunting rally cry of "Berkut, Berkut, Berkut", a reference to the police special unit responsible for much of the violence against protesters in Kiev last week, which left at least 82 dead.
"Allahu Akbar!" chanted the Tatars as the other side responded with a rally cry of "Russia, Russia, Russia". Those in the Tatar camp held signs reading: "Ukraine to Europe." "We just want to be free," said Arsen Bilyalov a 36-year-old Tatar.

fuck sake, now religious divides may be rearing their ugly head.

Apparently lots of Ukrainian American businessmen are flocking to Kiev now and (neo-liberal) business advisers, the 'shock treatment' will soon follow.

Huh, well this is interesting. In 2010, Viktoria Siumar, the new deputy decretary of the National Security & Defence Council, signed an open letter categorically rejecting work with Svoboda and saying 'Support for "Svoboda's" candidates by pro-democracy opposition parties in the upcoming parliamentary elections may be used by the authorities and Party of Regions to discredit Ukraine's democratic opposition'.

Now she's working for its co-founder.

From Facebook - apparently from a list of Ukrainian cabinet members

Whoops...

Ah, it's Russian.

"Right sector" declares the beginning of cooperation with the trade unions of Ukraine, and intends to monitor their activities.

This is referred to in the statement of the "right sector," posted on the association page to Facebook.

"Recently, the previous government with the help of corrupt judges and security forces ransacked trade union organizations and encroaching on their property! We will give a decisive rebuff to the robbers will not allow plundering the property of the people and the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine , "- say the" right sector. "

As noted, the union not only organized resistance to the headquarters of the House of Trade Unions , and within Maidan worked shoulder to shoulder with the unions themselves.

" So now , when the country is changing , we know what they should be. Our organization has shown no word, and deed , that is able to protect the interests of the Maidan, and therefore protects the interests of working people. We demand that the trade unions of Ukraine stood on the protection of the Ukrainian people, and were not a toy in the hands of the oligarchic elite. So today we started active cooperation, and each step in the trade unions of Ukraine will be under our close supervision, "- said in a statement .

Still a fair amount of Googlegibberish there... layered on top of fashbollocks on Facebook, I'll wager.

I take it that контролировать is like German Kontrol - it can mean "check up on" as much as "seize the rudder of".

If only we could think of a Ukrainian speaker with time on their hands who might be able to help...

No doubt fash are manning the barricades, but RT is not impartial one bit as the voice piece of putin.

the barricades are shrines now, the fash have moved on from the barricades . Theres no Berkut to keep away any more . And the fash will be central to what replaces them . And Im not impartial when it comes to nazis either for that matter .

Sorry to go on about the German role in this but..
What strikes me as worrying is that for the first time in over 70 years they've gone and got their hands dirty, messing with a particularly grubby kind of foreign policy. Strong evidence is now pointing to the fact we have Europe's first fully fledged, extreme right wing fascist government.
Coincidence?

not at all. we came very close to it in Croatia as well. The german backed Ustase paramilitaries were a lot better equipped , funded and organised than Tudjmans not quite so fascist forces at the beginning . Tudjman eventually won the power struggle with them but it could have went either way .
I remember watching one documentary were the fascist groups fighters were being filmed in action, and one them walked up to the camera crew seriously embarassed at being seen in their uniform and almost tearfully explained he wasnt a fascist and despised their politics. But that they were the only ones with the equipment and a plan, and had to take their side in order to physically defend his home. That was all thanks to decades of support by the BND.
Ive little doubt that in time we will find out the BND had links with these guys too.

Er to germans not meddaling no a unique east german tank turned up in numbers in the hands of croats.
They didnt just find them by looking for tanks on ebay :(

a lot of their migs and artillery later turned out to be former DDR stock as well. The germans were uniquely placed to arm their croat allies to the teeth
