Whether or not I agree with TopCat or discokermit; cupid_stunt, existentialist and editor are coming over as the disruptors in this current 'discussion'. If you've got nothing to contribute cupid, then don't bother. It's dull to read and distracts from any meaningful info being disseminated/discussed. existentialist; same really - if you're just going to have digs, what's the point? editor, you've been here before; maybe you shouldn't moderate a thread you're so emotionally involved in?

There was some decent discussion about to break out between kebabking and Pickman's model about reporting of numbers that just got swallowed by the bullshit. Same with what PTK was saying; lost in posts arguing/taking the piss out of what he hadn't actually said.

I generally ignore the obvious candidates, but all too often lately, the thread is being destroyed anyway, even before anyone gets into conversations with them.

And, for my part, I don't feel like it's OK to allow some quite outrageous nonsense to just be posted unchallenged.

There is something of an irony that such people can post really quite poisonous and nasty stuff, with little said until they're challenged, at which point it's those doing the challenging who end up being called out.

And that probably means that - sometimes - I do end up letting my frustration show.

no it isn't. it's a patronising bit of bollocks which would earn any other poster a stern warning if it were addressed to you. of course, if you genuinely believe it to be a reasoned response you can no doubt outline the reasoning behind it.

to be honest, he is a bit dim.
the comment is clearly a joke about what has been claimed about the russians and what the reality is and the difference between the two. i dont see how it is either incoherent or bizarre, unless you are a bit dim.

clearly not fit to moderate.

but anyway, as said above, this is disruption and im unwillingly a part of it so i have put the tit on ignore and wont respond to him again.

Sky is reporting that Ukrainian backed Russian troops have crossed the border, in tanks and armoured vehicles, and are carrying out attacks in southern Russia, backed up with drone attacks.

I would imagine there might be other events over the next couple of days leading up to the Presidential Election. The murder of Navalny is a reflection of how keen the regime is not to be embarrased, which will attract attempts to humiliate.

Whatever the rhetoric, Russia using tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine is not going to result in the full MAD response. My guess is that there will be lots of sabre rattling, threatening, warnings, and escalation of mobilisation on Russian borders. Depending on what Russia does next, all bets might be off. But my guess is that NATO will go for a proportionate riposte first time around.

They have stated exactly what they would do in such a situation and it would involve conventional weapons only. However they have said the bits of the Black Sea Fleet still afloat would be sunk and all Russian forces would be pushed back in to Russia, including from Crimea, all of which seems plausible enough so long as they can get the air superiority they need. So in some ways it would benefit Ukraine for Putin to use a ‘tactical nuke’ as the silly old prat endlessly threatens to do.
