Those by-elections (potential and otherwise) in full

Labour about 400 behind in Uxbridge according to some bloke. Fucks sake.
The current BBC summary:

  1. The vote in Uxbridge and South Ruislip is going to be recounted, the returning officer has announced
  2. Lloyd White said just the Labour and Conservative votes would be recounted in Boris Johnson's former west London constituency
  3. It comes as former Conservative Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said it would be a "very difficult night" for his party
  4. Selby and Ainsty in North Yorkshire, Somerton and Frome in Somerset, and former PM Boris Johnson's Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat in west London are all being contested
  5. The Conservatives hold majorities of around 20,000 in Selby and Ainsty and Somerton and Frome - but a smaller majority in Uxbridge and South Ruislip
  6. It could be a bruising night for the Conservatives who trail Labour by a significant margin in opinion polls and are being challenged by the Lib Dems in their Blue Wall heartlands
  7. Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey has predicted his party will "win big" in Somerset

BBC says

We’ve got the turnout for the Selby and Ainsty by-election - it’s 35,866.That’s just under 45% of eligible constituents coming out to vote. That’s one of the higher turnouts for by-elections during this parliament. It was 72% here in the 2019 general election. But fewer people tend to come out to vote in by-elections.We don’t know what kind of impact voters having to bring photo ID has had.

In contrast, the Somerton and Frome turnout was 44.23% and Uxbridge was 46.23%.

And

Sources among the candidates other than Conservative or Labour are suggesting that fewer than 500 votes separated the winner from the runner-up in the provisional count in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

The speculation here at the Queensmead Sports Centre is that the Tories finished ahead in the provisional count.

A re-count is well underway. As it only involves votes cast for those two parties, a final declaration may not be far off.
