Those by-elections (potential and otherwise) in full

Alok Sharma is MP for Reading West and that must be considered a marginal seat given how polls are, and was Labour from 1997-2010

Does Truss get a resignation honours list too? What kind of dunces and wingnuts will she be sending up?

There are reports that they have agreed to defer taking up their peerages until the end of the Parliament, to avoid by elections.

That's playing very fast and loose with the rules but I guess that's the Conservatives for you 🙄

Under the regulations in the Recall of MPs Act, there will almost certainly be a recall petition in Rutherglen and Hamilton West.

If the petition passes, then there will be a by-election in time.

MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West should face suspension for breaking rules on coronavirus, says committee on standards

The MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West Margaret Ferrier should be suspended from the House of Commons for 30 days for breaching Covid rules, the committee on standards has recommended.

This is a bit back and forth but here goes.

Margaret Ferrier (SNP, Rutherglen and Hamilton West) travelled across the country and throughout the Palace of Westminster, after testing positive for Covid during the period of quarantine and restrictions. Over the subsequent period she has:

*Lost the party whip (October 2020)
*Arrested for culpable and reckless conduct (January 2021)
*Pleaded guilty (August 2022)
*Sentenced to community service (September 2022)
*Recommended for 30-days Commons suspension.... which she automatically appealed (March 2023)
*Lost that appeal (May 2023)

As of today the next likely step is suspension, followed by the Recall Petition, which will either result in the by-election (if successful) or nothing at all (if not).

The vote to suspend Margaret Ferrier would have happened today were it not for rumours about Boris supporters voting against it because they're worried the same fate will befall him. So if you're not sure if the House of Commons is functioning properly, an MP who has broken the law and is supposed to be suspended for a month is being allowed to stay in position because of the never ending internecine battle amongst Conservatives.

South Lanarkshire Council has announced there will be seven signing places for the Margaret Ferrier recall petition.

The Petition will be available from 9am until 5pm each working day within the Petition Signing Period.

With extended opening hours as follows:

9am to 8pm on Monday 26 June 2023, Tuesday 4 July 2023, Wednesday 12 July 2023, Thursday 20 July 2023, and Thursday 27 July 2023
9am to 1pm on Saturday 1 July 2023 and Saturday 22 July 2023

On Monday there will be at least three Crown Steward and Bailiffs of the Manor of Northstead in one day. I think the last time that happened was 1985 when Enoch Powell resigned along with his UUP chums.
