Things to look out for in Lidl and Aldi

Aldi only up here - in Hexham, can be good for hand and power tools - but some are sh1te quality.
Food is good, most of the time - but the queues are very looooooooongg

Greek Yoghurt in Aldi for 75p &they do blueberries half the price of Tesco etc.
That yoghurt is chuffin' excellent too and there's a nice welcoming tub of it in the fridge for tomorrow's and Wednesday's breakfast.

AND I'm awarding myself extra self-control points as I didn't buy the stolen bites and I could just tell they were luscious.

Why didn't you take them back then? They're very good about refunds ime. The pc I'm currently using was from Aldi, £400 iirc, all my/son's MP3/4s have been Aldi ones too. Son's monitor died just within it's 3 yr warranty and they fixed it no bother, even emailed me a postage label. No complaints here about either store tbh. Do wish so many people hadn't cottoned on to them though. I used to ok shopping in Aldi but every time it's getting busier :(

Didn't have receipt so wasn't sure they'd take them back

Other than those, haven't had any other problems. I like Lidl

(For those that don't want Lidl getting even busier, it really is a shit shop ;))

Is the Christmas stuff in Lidl yet, does anyone know please? I'll make a special trip if it is.<snip>
Yes, but do check the date on it - the mince pies currently out in Streaham Lidl are only good until early November!

I've just realised that despite often fantasising about it when I read about them, I have never been to either shop ever :( I will remedy that forthwith, cos they sound fucking ace

Do they ever sell boat / sailing gear?

Lidls do, like one week in a year, they do all sorts of niche items for a week - horsey stuff, bikers kit, sailing stuff....

edit - I ain't got a clue what they're talking about here, now that I've read it

I went to lidl and didn't buy stollen bites. I didn't have enough willpower not to buy gingerbread tho. And I didn't even look at anything else (except chocolate).

made redundant( 3x time in 6 years but am not looking for symapthy as I work in a vile sector) again and its a rite of passage to do a weekly lidl shop now- pretty much dry goods only unless they something wonderful on offer ( tip - always shop after you have just eaten), supplemeted with veg from peckahm rye lane - srlsy, works about half the price of a similar sainsburys/ waitrose shop. The queues are tolerable, the chocolate makes it worthwhile.

Went in to Lidl today, bought a bucket of Turkish yog:hmm: today for MrONS, and then just tons of veg and fruit (I mean I am in danger of being concussed by a massive pumpkin, a huge swede and a celeriac if not careful when removing veg basket from top of fridge:facepalm::facepalm: and things falling out fridge, yeah that much VEG!), huge ass bottle of olive oil, free range chicken, some nice organic mince, some biccies as a treat oh and some bread for dunkering in my soup at lunch. comes in at under £30.:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

The twix equivalents have slightly more savoury caramel than the real thing too.
Their dirt cheap basic milk chocolate is no worse than cadbury's and is half price this weekend at 17p a bar - I often see people buy them by the box loads :D

I know. But the bits that aren't hazelnuts are too sugary for this squirrel's body to handle :(
