Things to look out for in Lidl and Aldi

Aldis promised pull on riggers boots today for £14 99' didn't happen, bastards, back to LIdls

Nothing particularly exciting in Lidl this morning but I have a belly full of hazlenut stollen when I should be on a diet because of you people.
In that case you certainly don't want to try the poppy seed one or the apple variant. Nor should you even allow yourself to become aware of the addictive (and I don't use that word lightly) stollen bites. And it would be cruel of me to mention their sticks of pineapple in marzipan with a dark chocolate coating.

The tins of nuts, however, should definitely be hoarded at all costs, and their panettone is well worth buying early.

BTW Lidl's mince pies are very good value for the money but the ones currently on sale have a best before date of early November.

Incidentally, the Dornfelder wine, the limoncino liqueur (only available in Italian week), the Normandy cider (only available in French week), the water softener tablets, the Belgian chocolates, the nurnbergers, the bratwursts, and bockwursts, are a total waste of time and money, which I'll gladly spare you the trouble of buying in Lidl.

Lidl 150 bar pressure washer £79 ..,I paid £89 a few years ago .......
£12 for the 12 in patio washer head ....excellent ....the equiv in Karcher ...150 bar.... are over £400

Electric Saber saw £29..

Giant bockwurst in a jar ...I'll buy them at any price ...best ever ..

Can't seem to get them anymore ...but they used to do cherry flavour Jaffa cake rip offs ..way more lush than the original

You can get similar in some places which sell Polish food, although not as cheaply as Lidl did them. :(

I can't go back to lidl again, it's impossible to get in the shop without walking past the bakery and their crazy cheap pastries.

The 99 quid singer sewing machines are back. They had over lockers too but I've forgotten the price.

Was it me?
No. Can't have been, because I've not been in Aldi today, but that sounds certainly like something I'd do - three bottles of gin and some of their tins of mackerel.

I'll second the approval of the Christmas stuff. That bloody Stollen is like crack to me. Maybe it has got crack in it, wrapped up in the marzipan. :D
It is completely splendid. A pal of mine advised me to try slices of it toasted last year, which makes it even more ridiculously deliciously fantastic. God. I'll have to avoid buying any this year because I've lost a lot of weight this year and I can easily eat whole one all to myself and they are MASSIVE.

T'other occasional German Stollen excess is to toast a slice and then spread it thickly with butter. ;)

The Singer overlockers are £129 (yep, I did a double-take when I saw that - it's a seriously good price!).

That prosecco with the orangey label is shite too, vinegary and half-flat. Urbanz wouldn't like it, I'm sure! :hmm:

They also do a 10-pack of "mini-bockwurst" (about 160mm long!) in a chiller tray that's a little bit thinner than the bigguns in the jars, but equally tasty.

Lidl's Vitafit orange juice is far better than others costing three times as much.
Bin bags are tough and cheap.
All the fruit and veg at both Aldi and Lidl is superior to other supermarket outlets.
Love Lidl's blueberry muffins.
The W5 cleaning rang is as good as name brands.

"I got puffin hearts, wanna try one? They're a bit like olives" :D

I love Lidl. Although I was very angry when last year all their Lebkuchen were in packets that just said "Ginger Bread" I do not pay you fuckers to recognise it's popular in the UK so start making it in English packaging, I pay you to sell me palletloads of genuine foreign food

Also, they aren't really just Gingerbread now are they????

And what the hell kind of awful "cheese" are they using in their cheese twists? Horrible.

Apart from that though, love Lidl. Never especially busy down in this neck of the woods either. Fruit and veg is usually really good, especially the british vine tomatoes they were doing, just amazing. Plus all the posh Italian ham (whatever the hell kind it was) - same brand as Sainsbury's, a third cheaper.

This is it Geri
Lidl or Aldi?

Lidl have a new sparkling wine which is very nice. It's a Cremant d'Alsace - nicer than their prosecco which is mediocre. The sparkling Chardonnay in Aldi is also good. Cremant de Jura iirc.

That was Lidl. We have two Lidl closer than Aldi so we've only been to Aldi once.

They are expanding our Aldi which is a pain in the arse because there's about 10 spaces in the carpark at the moment. My mum has the biggest Lidl I've ever seen. I have discounter envy

Maybe they're different ones to mine. Mine died within months

For the benefit of Shirl, my scales are still going 20 years down the line

Why didn't you take them back then? They're very good about refunds ime. The pc I'm currently using was from Aldi, £400 iirc, all my/son's MP3/4s have been Aldi ones too. Son's monitor died just within it's 3 yr warranty and they fixed it no bother, even emailed me a postage label. No complaints here about either store tbh. Do wish so many people hadn't cottoned on to them though. I used to ok shopping in Aldi but every time it's getting busier :(

Is the Christmas stuff in Lidl yet, does anyone know please? I'll make a special trip if it is.
I was in Aldi last week and no sign of it.
