Things to look out for in Lidl and Aldi

Pikelettes are thin crumpets made without a ring, and not the same as scotch pancakes.

I've switched to a (microwaved) potato-based diet ...
Today I grabbed a bag of wonky potatoes in Aldi - variety "Bonnata" ... I googled them on my phone in the shop but found no info ...
I assumed they were cheap because they were a bit scabby, but they are a bit disappointing - more waxy than fluffy - skins fine - I'm not freaked out by plant-eating fungi ...
Once they're slathered in hummus they're OK but I won't buy them again...

Eeh this forum gives me hope im not the poxiest foodie. Today am having pikelettes and pies.
I just googled to see if that was a signature dish and found this :D
Parmo, or Teesside Parmesan, is a dish originating in Middlesbrough, England, and a popular item of take-away food in the Teesside area. It consists of a breaded cutlet of chicken or pork topped with a white béchamel sauce and cheese, usually cheddar.

Found out today that there's a new Aldi at Beckton Triangle - still a bit of a trek but a bit better than the Charlton one (2 buses compared to bus/ferry/bus or bus/tube/bus).
I don't go over there that often, but as it's the location of our nearest Pets@Home I find myself over that way occasionally.
There's also a Lidl and a B&M there.

Do you have to pop into a Lidli regularly to get the bargains?
There’s one near me but I rarely go in it cos it’s not that inviting a place - hard to navigate and look around and mostly filled with revolting looking processed food that you can get even cheaper at a Herons or a Home Bargains.
And you have to remember to bring bags. The till experience is also nerve-wracking - makes me very self-conscious, as if I’m being timed and judged on my bag packing.
