The Queen's Speech for England

Four fifths of the measures were England only, yet this is never mentioned in the Queen's Speech.

Reinforces how much Johnson is primarily the First Minister for England and Westminster is primarily the legislature for England.

Can you edit the title to The QS 2021 or some such to broaden the discussion?

This isn't true, though. All the bills (bar maybe the HS2 one) cover Wales as well. Most relate to Scotland too. The parts on subsidies, NI contributions, freeports, elections, environment and animal welfare, 5G and telecommunications. And several others I cba to read through.

Saw a Daily Mail vid being recommended to me on YouTube - didn't watch it of course, but I did wonder what the reference to "cancel culture" was in the title of the vid. Anyone know what that might be about?

It'll be some culture war bullshit for sure, but I wanted details...

No bills at Westminster directly affect Scottish matters that are devolved. Which bills do you think will change Scottish laws?

It's the horrible Cultural Marxist practice of revoking your invite to the student union debate when they find that completely minor bit of holocaust denial you carelessly did a few years ago.

They want to bring in a law allowing racists who get "cancelled" by universities to sue.

I don't make that 4/5ths & the NI bill is not England.

From counting what the Queen said line by line in the Queen's Speech.

The point us that from here it seems to be a chamber largely debating matters that have no effect on our lives.
When you say 'our lives' are you north or south of the border?

I wasn’t sure about planning and im not sure there will actually be three animal bills, but you are misinformed re the advanced research malarkey and environment. Many environmental powers are devolved but not all and various aspects of the last bill applied to Scotland. Not sure if your rationale re 2, but it isn’t ‘education’ if that was your assumption.

The Scottish Parliament can make laws on many subjects, including:

  • agriculture and fisheries
  • education and training
  • environment
  • health and social services
  • housing
  • justice and policing
  • local government

I know. But it doesn’t cover everything covered by a potential environment bill, just like last year.

“Most of the Bill applies in England only. However, there are also significant provisions in the Bill which apply to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. A number of the UK-wide provisions create delegated powers where areas of devolved environmental policy are expected to be regulated at a UK-wide level with the consent of Scottish Ministers. There are also a number of areas in the Bill that extend to Scotland by virtue of their being reserved areas.”

With consent that cannot be easily over ridden. You are splitting hairs.
