I was just thinking how much I like Gentle Giant but how weird it would be if they were as generally well received as they are with me. There would be a well deserved backlash if they were regarded as this iconic rock group like the Beatles. But as they are they're an old band who did niche stuff that was never supposed to be for everyone. It's bands like that who make music worth it.
Talking of the Beatles, are we getting to the stage where we can finally chuck them off that ridiculous pedistal they've been purched on for over half a century and appreciate them as the peculiar band that they were? Same with the Stones, Dylan etc. etc.

Is the Memories of Old Days compilation any good?
It's been on the shelf for years, just never got round to listening to it.
I'm not familiar with it. Seems to be outtakes, interviews and live material, so definitely not a starting point. As the band has not existed since 1980, there's a lot of effort to squeeze every last drop out of any recorded material there is. Could be interesting though.
