Apparently his lawyer claims that he is non-binary, in one of the most transparent and offensive attempts at dodging a hate crime charge I've seen yet. Lawyer deserves to rot in shit too.
As to being non binary, who can say? Maybe it's true. Perhaps it's a completely cynical attempt to twist the knife and divert discussion by turning ongoing arguments about self declaration back on themselves.
