The Alt-Right

There are a lot of people with degrees and higher degrees who go along with this stuff. The odds do decrease, but it's much more sophisticated than just critical reading and so on.

Absolutely true. Steven Miller for example has a degree from Duke. Yet was radicalized by a book by Wayne LaPierre called "Guns, Crime, and Freedom." And another book by Rush Limbaugh called "The Way Things Ought to Be." His education did nothing to take him off the path to being a complete waste of space as a human (assuming he's human, of course. Its difficult to tell for sure.)

Stephen Miller is without a doubt one of David Icke's lizard people, but it's true that intelligence and education do not immunise people against mendacious bigotry.

Then there is the scaremongering/doom-mongering aspect, it needs to be countered somehow. It's a trick/con/grift after all.

There are some very funny Mike Lindell clips on The Majority Report podcast. Whenever he appears, making a speech or on Fox News or whatever, he always manages to get one of his coupon codes displayed.

That doesn't surprise me. Chicago also had Milton Friedman and George Stigler as professors. They are responsible for some of the more heinous of our economic policies.
Uncle Milty won the Nobel prize for economics, Kissinger won the peace prize and Nobel invented dynamite. Just sayin’…

so angry, I could spit.
Bu then again, it is Texas.

Never mind.... spits

“Just try to remember the concepts of [House Bill] 3979,” Peddy said in the recording, referring to a new Texas law that requires teachers to present multiple perspectives when discussing “widely debated and currently controversial” issues. “And make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust,” Peddy continued, “that you have one that has an opposing, that has other perspectives.”

The article is really long, and I'm too pissed off to read it.
I just skimmed it.

spits on floor

“Teachers are literally afraid that we’re going to be punished for having books in our classes,” an elementary school teacher said. “There are no children’s books that show the ‘opposing perspective’ of the Holocaust or the ‘opposing perspective’ of slavery. Are we supposed to get rid of all of the books on those subjects?”

My children had a holocaust survivor come to their school and speak.
I told the children to pay attention and never forget.

I told them that once all survivors are dead, the powers to be will deny it ever happened.

Looks like I was right :(

Wtf

What is the other side of the holocaust? Some say killing 6 million people was bad but others say Jews are vermin and should be eradicated. Make your own mind up!

The Slow Burn podcast on David Duke is interesting on the way Nazi ideas are pushed to a more mainstream audience. Well worth a listen

consequences of the laws they put in place to deal with critical race theory and sexism, they legally obliged now to offer alternative prospectives on the most horrendous if topics

Some say apples fall from trees due to gravity. Others say its god's will. What do you think?

hey I'm Irish we have almost the same level of madness in the north

take the giants causeway, it got a plate with the Irish folk lore bit about angry giants throwing stones about and the geological explaination.

but because the the head bangers in the Orangemen/DUP they had to add the 3rd saying "god did it"

right wing Christian wankers pushing for equal representation of view points why what they are really aiming for is to spread enough misinformation about to muddy the waters

It's only a matter of time before teaching in Texas consists of a bellend yelling angrily at 6 year olds to "do your own research".

Trying to do damage control

A report by NBC News on the comment sparked an uproar on social media, and the district's superintendent, Lane Ledbetter, issued an apology to the community:

"I express my sincere apology regarding the online article and news story released today. During the conversations with teachers during last week's meeting, the comments made were in no way to convey that the Holocaust was anything less than a terrible event in history. Additionally, we recognize there are not two sides of the Holocaust," the statement read.

Tbh I did wonder if it was someone putting forward the idea as a means to ridicule the new law, to demand an opposing view of the holocaust isn‘t really any more batshit than demanding an alternative viewpoint of climate change science be given equal weight.

Similarly, I wonder whether the new ’freedom of speech’ laws the government is pushing on universities in the U.K. would stand for having an invited speaker from Hezbollah or NAMBLA. Can‘t allow ‘cancel culture’, remember.

they would not give them a platform

but don't deny the right wing view point that is cancel culture

Three-Way Fight is always worth reading on contemporary US anti-fascist strategy, they now have a really big series up of different responses to the last Proud Boys day out in Portland:
(the very tl;dr version is that the PBs wanted to rally in downtown Portland, then abandoned their original plan and switched to a less central location in a residential area at the last moment, antifascists were divided about whether to keep occupying the original spot in the city centre or to go to their new location instead, leading to some people going up there but not very many and with less-than-ideal results.)
