The all boxing thread

Not taken any interest in fury before the other night.
Fuck me he moves fast for a big fella all that ducking and weaving, like watching an old fashioned boxer. I was impressed.
Like the crowd I also thought he was robbed. Wilder was saved by the dodgy judge, how the fuck could he give a draw

I suppose, and I've no particular axe to grand, but to risk your career and indeed your life and give such a sum away surely is quite hefty in the balance. Add to this the fact he is still a young fella and has been in the spotlight for a while and apparently has had serious struggles with mental health...

I mean are we looking to heavy weight boxers to be role models? Where trash talking and cockiness is part of the game?

Yeah. Nasty cunts are perfectly capable of supporting good causes, it doesn't mean he's suddenly not a nasty cunt. Why are you excusing his documented hateful and bigoted behaviour?

He's a prizefighter not a social worker.

Nobody is defending some of his past statements, least of all himself.

You sound like a bit of a nasty cunt yourself.

Tyson Fury is an old school showman of a fighter, a self promoting guy. Ask yourself would he have gotten the title shots and the big fights had he been a quiet fella? I get that his more...full on stuff is out of order but that's all a front, an image projected to put himself out there. He's fuck all like that in real life. I ain't defending some of what he's done, he's a cunt for saying it but at the same time, he's a cunt that everyone knows now.

Anyone watching Del Boy v Whyte or Frampton v Warrington this Saturday? Should both be decent fights.

I'm away this weekend so will catch them on YouTube after, plus I'd be loathe to pay 20 quid for a non title fight... But if I was in and had a few beers, probably would end up getting the Whyte fight.

Reckon Warrington might win as he seems hungrier, and Del Boy looks in decent shape, but then heavyweight boxing isn't about looking trim. Should be a good fight if it's anything like their last one.

I've got a huge soft spot for both Chisora and Whyte. I'd much prefer them to Joshua purely because Joshua is way too cosseted and media packaged for my liking. I realize that's of little consequence to boxing talent but you know. :D also, beating an over the hill Klitsckhko aside, he's not fought anyone of great consequence. Chisora is limited, this fight v Whyte is absolutely the furthest he can go and he'll give Whyte another stiff test but Whyte will prove too strong in my opinion. Late stoppage win, perhaps points win for Dillian Whyte. In respect of him, Whyte has not that much amateur pedigree really. He's learned his trade the hard way in the ring and I think there's much more to come from him. Give him a few more fights, say about half a dozen and I think he has the beating of Joshua maybe and definitely the beating of Tyson Fury.

Told you.

Parker immediately said he's up for it. Whyte should get a chance, but will never happen. Whole division is a mess.

Whyte won't get a chance because he doesn't play the media game as savvy as other heavyweights. I like Whyte, I think he has the beating or as near as dammit of any other fighter in the division.

There's talk of Ortiz, which seems likely. I like Ortiz, but he's past it now.

Uzyk would be a good fight for Joshua once he's had a few heavyweight fights in him.

Would like to see Joe Joyce too, similar size to AJ, slow, but powerful and fit, reckon that would be interesting.

I saw Joyce's last fight and he looked clumsy. He can bang a bit but he's nowhere near being a top level pro IMO. Another few fights and Daniel Dubois might be in the mix.

Yeah, he's not great, but then neither is Dubois, or indeed Joshua. Sometimes just having two fighters of the same size, in good shape, makes for a good fight.

I mean Joshua was relatively poor in the Klitschko fight before he came back to win it, but it was an excellent fight from a spectators point of view.

Heavyweight boxing is a funny thing, there's nearly always some kind of mismatch, be it age/ability/size, it rarely happens that two fighters enter the ring in their prime and at their personal peak. I reckon Joyce would be a tasty fight.

Sure, and I'd watch Joyce Joshua, but the former makes the latter look like Fury.

Usyk is going to be interesting. He's a terrific boxer but I'm not convinced he's big enough. Seems daft when he's six-three but he's smaller than Parker and he got nowhere near Josh, and Usyk's reach is 4 in shorter than Josh's, 5 than Wilder, and 7 than Fury.

I just wish this lot would just get their shit together and fight each other FFS. :D

Miller is not happy, does seem a very strange thing to do as he knew all about the testing and it could cost him £5m. Guesses for excuse...

- nasal spray for asthma (which every sports start seems to have)?
- Diet pill which he has taken for years without a problem?
- He's been eating uncastrated Emu or something?

Of course he also has previous (from when he was a kickboxer).

All speculation, but if did he take GW1516 this sounds about right for Miller. That's the one thing that people have either questioned or marvelled over, how does someone both fat and massive maintain his workrate through the rounds?

The substance found in the latest VADA test taken on March 20 - GW1516 - is said to increase aerobic power and endurance for the obese to help with training and weight loss.

Miller is known for his extraordinary physique, which is much broader than most heavyweight boxers.

At six feet four inches, he weighed 315 lbs for his most recent fight against Bogdan Dinu in Kansas last November.
