The all boxing thread

Fucking hell, you've got to feel for Whyte though. Kept away from a title fight by 2/3 years of boxing politics bollocks and then beaten in a fight he didn't need to take (though, if I've got it right, he didn't know that at the time he signed up for the povetkin fight).

That was a mismatch in every sense. It was a skill mismatch as well as a weight one, but it again raises the issue of whether there should be another weight category. Sneider is an ex Cruiserweight and it showed - Dubois at 244 lbs and Sneider at 215 (though he was a late replacement and would presumably have been even less with a full camp).

Having said that, I'm looking forward to seeing Usyk go up against the big boys.

I see Alan Minter's dead.

Fuck him.

"Not losing my title to a black man" followed by losing to Hagler and Hagler having to flee from a stream of bottles and glass. Wembley arena packed with racists.

Fuck him. I've never forgotten that.

He always maintained he was told to say it and always regretted it. He became a bit of a poster boy for NF types. No excuse for the crowd behaviour that night.

I seen him a cpl of times as an after dinner speaker at charity dinners, always absolutely hammered. Also met him at a memorabilia show too where he was nice as pie.

Usyk v Chisora, competant and steady from yer man Usyk but disappointing from Del Boy. Points is points, I get going the distance is an achievement but he should be capable of more.

Really do think it's time he hung the gloves up.

So. um. Wilders weird rant this week? Ref drunk. His own corner drugging him. Fury's gloves etc.

What with him not taking the rematch I'm beginning to to think that's the last we'll see of him. Kinda sad if so.

What an odd night. Mike Tyson Vs Roy Jones in an exhibition and Joe Joyce Vs Daniel Dubois. I'm guessing the former will get the ppv numbers and the other will be an actual contest.

Anyway who do we fancy for Dubois Joyce? Personally I think although Joyce us stubborn and tough as fuck his only chance is Dubois breaking both hands on the head he won't be able to get out of the way fast enough. I think it might go along way, maybe even the distance, but Dubois seems hungrier, really a man on a mission.

The way it's been hyped up as a knockout fest, i'd piss with laughter if it was snoreathon. :D

I know he can't help it but Joyce always looks so prissy both when he's throwing or dodging - as if he can't quite believe that he's been put in a position where he has to do this.

That DDD eye is going to do for him.

You mean Joyce is too nice? Tend to agree. I know there's nothing that says a boxer can't also be a painter but most boxers to my eyes seem like they couldn't do anything else.

Anyone staying/getting up for the Tyson spectacle?

He's fighting a shark right?

Mike Tyson is a hero of mine. I idolised him as a kid. Tonight? Nah, it's just a bit... I dunno. I don't wanna say sad but there's deffo a whiff about it all.
