Show us yer house and house-related meddlings

Feels like we are going backwards. Builder has covid and mrshakes has made last minute decision to rip out floor of ‘room of doom’ which we’d agreed not to touch for now. Dust and shit everywhere, nothing finished and we move next week. Anything I do at or related to the house is wrong or takes too long to explain, so I’ve given up

Lovely grain and shine. :)
I like it now but it will lose that lovely shine once it dries, and I do love that shine, hence the order of the 2k lacquer. It's probably not the greatest finish for a table, as it will be prone to scratching, kinda like using the roof of your car as a table, but I don't care, I just want that deep gloss finish, 'cos it looks gorgeous, regardless of how long it lasts.
I've ordered a few lambswool bonnets for the sander, for polishing it after the inevitable crying like a baby when I scratch it :D

Advice please: can I split this bedroom into two bedrooms? How easy is it to do and what do I need to think about?

How big do you want the rooms? Single or double?

Easiest would be to put a stud wall from bottom edge of door frame. Put a door into new wall to access bedroom with en suite. Then another bit of stud wall in a 'L' shape with a door to access the bedroom with built in wardrobe forming a bit of extra landing where the door into the bedroom is at the minute.

Would need a bit of electrical work to have separate lights in each room.

E2a: might be possible to squeeze another ensuite in where the built-in wardrobe is.

I hadn't thought about lights. There's a light fitting at each end of the current room but guess they would need to be separated with separate light switches.
I assume I could do this without any problem with building regs as each room would have a window?

The kitchen and bathroom are under the en suite on lower floors so I imagine it would be a problem with plumbing to put a bathroom in the other side in the wardrobe?

Lights would need separating and on separate switches.

Can't be sure about building regs but should be ok with a window in each room.

Not impossible to put another ensuite in just more difficult. Would also be more expensive.

I swear I am redecorating this flat before this time next year (if we are still here).

It's been a nightmare, have a partner who is a hoarder, can't even get to the walls. It is a massive embarrassment though given that I have worked as a painter/decorator and my home really ought to look professionally painted instead of a fucking disgusting hellhole.

Really really feel for you, I’ve discovered so much shit in this house and we’ve only been here a year. Why we need 100 jars is beyond me

I don't know if you'd need to build a little landing so that both bedrooms had direct access to the stairs, with a door between each bedroom and the stairs, for fire regs compliance.

Can you speak to a local builder or architect? Also I think there may be a monim size for bedrooms but don't quote me on that. Again, builder or architect should know.
