Love the room Cloo -where is the print above the fireplace from please?
It actually has a bit of a story behind it, that one - we were on holiday in France about 6 years ago, wandering fairly aimlessly around empty bits of Poitiers when we saw it in a book/print shop window, and loved it, so we went in and the bloke explained it is called the 'Beastie' - Alexander Calder designed it as a mascot for Braniff airlines in the 60s or 70s. It wasn't very expensive so I would imagine there's quite a few prints floating around - I expect if you google 'Calder Beastie' you'd likely turn up other prints of it.

What's the bed/sofa thing called Cloo and what's it like? Need to replace an old 2 seater sofa and was thinking of a sofa bed but they always seem a bit shit for both being a bed and a sofa, but that looks good, I like the storage as well.

It's the Ikea Hemsnes day bed - I bought it ages ago from charity shop across the road. It's good for storage, but not all that comfy, I have to say.
I think one day we're going to try to build something similar into the bay instead.

Thanks Cloo

My partner found this on the street & has painted it. Needs another coat & the white handles we think will be red but we don’t have any. Aiming to put in the lounge.

Have you tried it out yet? Little concerned that smoke may gather if it can't go straight upwards and out, I daresay you have thought of a solution to this that I can't see in the photos!

It looks awesome though :)

To get to my house you have to walk down these steps, 3 of them currently completely unattached to the ground so they flip up terrifyingly if you step on the wrong bit of them and will sooner or later kill somebody, like the postman, who i like so that would be a shame.
I really need to sort it out.

My question is can i fix it ?
Looks like the problem is that someone affixed the stone slabs using.. some sand?
So what would be the correct stuff, could i use that 'postcrete' ?
Or is this a don't be daft and call a professional situation ?

You need this website

I'm not a paving expert... But I think if it's tipping over it just means that the sand or whatever it's laid on is uneven or has big voids in it, which seems to be confirmed by your photo.

Bag of ready mixed mortar, diy, great starter project. The longer it takes to dry the stronger it is, put a wet blanket over it and let it take days to dry/cure.

And

What has happened to me I find this really quite interesting 🧐.
Problem now is that I’d annoy anybody who came to fix them for me by enquiring as to whether they’re using SBR in the mortar and if not why not.

good morning meddlers.
Can anybody please tell me:
1) what is the name for the wooden strut things in between panes of glass like in these windows and
2) what is the right material to use to repair the bits that have fallen off (there are loads like this and water will get in and rot the frames if i don't fix them)? Would i be looking for some kind of putty/ filler and if so what kind or do i really want to get some bits of wooden beading and cut them to size and glue (?) them into place before painting?

Right. Over a year later and Today is the day i've started this job, starting on one window, sanding down.

I just applied some putty, thinking good i'll go get the primer and paints now.
The linseed oil window putty tub says "ALLOW TO DRY FOR SEVEN TO THIRDY DAYS before painting. '

This is simply not possible for me, if i have to leave it a month i'll just never do the job, i know that much about self.
There are a lot of windows, all of them bad, and this is my project for the Summer, I just can't do waiting a month no way.

Help me please, meddling enablers, what can i use instead of putty - little bits of shaped wood? Silicone?

Silicone doesn't take paint very well. Wood would work. One thing I have used for small jobs (as its expensive) is Milliput, in fact I use it for loads of repairs, its an 2 part epoxy putty.

i am going to the nearby shit town to buy two tubes of this, to save the day & my momentum i think it will be ok, brewers dont sell total crap do they ?

4 hours i can just about manage to wait before painting, better than 30 days

i'm about a quarter of the way through restoring window 1 (of 13 windows) and .. I hate it. Its fiddly as hell, and i've started with the easiest to access one of all. Its hard, slow, and is going to take for ever even to complete a crap job.
A bit despairing. Will have to change my attitude because it really has got to happen this summer and paying someone else to do this is just not realistic, also even if I could delegate it that would mean having that person around for weeks which I'd probably hate even more than doing it myself. :(
