Aaargh. kabbes what in the name of all that is holy is this though

The horizontal bit, its black inside & white outside. Window painting is hard.

I think i'm going to just use the outside paint to do all the insides, but maybe not right now maybe later. Its very sensible flexible weather-proof paint just pure white and shiny, which isn't my ideal for inside but its fine. I think better than faffing about for an extra hundred hours of my one life with the edges between the outside and a slightly less shiny slightly less white white inside. ffs.

If you are doing internal doors, you paint the lock/latch edge of the door and similar to match the room it opens in to (so if a door opens into the lounge, the edges of the door will be painted to match the lounge side of the door, if it opens outwards into the hall you paint those narrow bits to match the colour scheme on the hall side of the door).

I am not sure of the convention for window frames however!

Spent the day doing mid building clean and prepping old walls for painting. Hard to get good photos of the bathroom tiles but they are looking fab irl. It’s really starting to take shape..

Almost constant rain and drizzle since I embarked on the exterior painting job last week. This would probably be dealable with if I were not such an impatient person. Trying to just stay on the sanding and sorting out the ironmongery and leave the damn paint and filler and everything else alone until the weather changes but it is really hard. Have never looked at the weather forecast so frequently in my life. Bloody midsummers day and not even a sunny spell.

Well after inheriting a patch of cracked paving stones out front, gsv put the sleepers and gravel in last year, then today finally the teeny tiny bit of turf in our front garden. Everyone except gsv reckons it's too small a patch to work well, though I hope it isn't. Daughter irrationally hates the grass now she's seen it, rest of us like the look - let's see if it lasts.

The last thing to add is some sort of screen for the bins, but they all seem to be sold out at the moment.

Oooh the end of the screen not being exactly on the corner of the green shed would drive me insane. It looks very smart though.

My heating is on.

Exterior wood paint for windows...outside.
You need to use the correct paint to protect the wood and make the window frames water proof.
yep, i have good sensible paint for the outsides.
I love it, it is this paint. :D

My problem (one of my problems) is just, what parts of a window count as outside and which not. Inner plane of hinged edge for instance etc and so on. Cos i don't really want the same paint inside.
My one person mini scaffold arrives tomorrow that will be fun, possibly.

Window job is the biggest DIY type challenge i've ever taken on, just in terms of how much is involved and how long its all taking but can report that I am exactly halfway through now, on my spreadsheet of window tasks, and I have learnt many things, like how to use a chisel and that i am really shit at doing putty.
It is a pretty massive task but it's good for me, no instant results patience very much required.

Today I got the bedroom windows to both open and close which they never did before, were mostly just jammed in a halfway position, weather dependent, so that felt like a real achievement. Will have to sand another load off it before painting though, painting one day when it's not raining, because thats how annoying it all is.

It's a bit worrying that for the last several days my phone & laptop both no longer recognise my fingerprint, i think i must have melted the outer surface of my hands with all the sanding and dodgy chemicals. The end it is in sight though. If it stops raining again.

Love the tiles. I’m not usually a fan of the trend to tile a bathroom like a public WC but the shade you’ve chosen simply works. Although your post had made me realise I miss having a bath loads.
