Show us yer house and house-related meddlings

Hate to nitpick, but 100 years old, it's not Victorian, it's Edwardian. It's the same vintage as my parents' house (which was built just after WWI). The doors are almost identical, the panels are a slightly different length (these are longer).
You hate to nitpick on a post from June 2018 that can no longer be edited :hmm:

You also missed the context of my original post in which I was talking about Edwardian and Victorian mantlepiece with mirrors.I did not claim something was Victorian when it is not, so I'm at a loss to understand what point you're trying to make really.

Anyway, surely an urb is undertaking some house and home meddling we can discuss?

i'm meddling with my back windows this weekend :)

we seriously overestimated our painting/maintenance abilities and the lovely wood double glazed units we paid £££ for have suffered for it  but never too late, i'm stabilising the really sad bits, filling and sanding today. then tomoz i'm hoping to at least get primer and first coat before the rain hits. and giving the wooden garden furniture a once over at the same time. it's handy i'm a fan of distressed cos imma make a really sloppy job of it :D

eta: this time i have at least looked up the order you're supposed to paint windows in. frames last

I am also meddling. I wish I had a minute to post pics and share. Busy drowning my sorrows, currently :(

Actually, it’s not that bad. Just sooooo long winded (when doing it properly)

Pictures would be great when you have to post them.

All carefully removed with a reciprocating saw.
Was plaster on pressed metal mesh. Not quite as easy as cutting out plasterboard.
Was removed as the loft conversion was done in the seventies and had no insulation. Initial hunch confirmed by a few small holes in various places.

Also lots of VIR cable found. Was going to rewire anyway but with a little more urgency now.

I bought a new washing machine and tidied everything under the kitchen sink.

I decided not to bother with another integrated machine, just a freestanding one. It's happily doing it's first wash of old towels. John Lewis did the installation and took my old one away for recycling. Hand to lend the installer some tools to get the plinth up beneath the old machine :D

We just got a new washing machine. It looks a lot like that one, except it's Bosch (same group, different price level). Nice to have something quiet for once!
The difference between this old and my dearly departed old machine is amazing.

This looks a bit familiar, doesn't it? :D
Lol, mine’s about 5 years old now but I reckon the current model would look very familiar!
When I was looking to buy a fridge a while back, there was such little difference between these brands.

This 'post your washing machine' strand is pretty exciting and I'm not going to miss the chance to be involved in it so here's mine and I'm in the same team as danski . NB mine's _TURBO where his isn't.

My Ex has a Bosch washing machine that has a very fast spin cycle such that clothes come out almost dry and for some reason also not at all creased. It is a very impressive machine.
