Show us yer house and house-related meddlings

Hello meddlers, bodgers and boffins! :)

As an inveterate non-meddler (with all the general ignorance that comes with that), I was wondering if anyone here knew about the ins and outs and pitfalls of getting a new front door.

Mine is so cracked now that when its dry and the wood contracts you can practically see through it.

Looking for something nice and insulatey (yes, that's a word), and really secure. And kind of looks like my current front door probably looked like a decade ago.

An imposing door knocker in the shape of a medieval knight is a bonus, but not strictly necessary.

Well, i at least need to know what kind of building it is going into, so as to make sure you are not about to mess up a modernist masterpiece with a pvc fake georgian door or suchlike.

Two months, I wish I was only waiting two months.

I once had such a prolonged sofa saga, documented on here, involving missed, deliveries, secondhand sofas that simply did not exist, and then two sofas arriving instead of one, that when I got one I had a party for it. A sofa-warming party. In the meantime I got a double camping chair that was actually fairly comfortable.

No, it's a Victorian terraced and I'm looking for the exact door style that fits a Victorian terraced (as the current one does).

I'm not a "house person" so basically looking to keep things as close as possible to how they are now. Thanks for responding. :)
