heres Pugarun Sweetpea aka Lily in the snow wearing a rather fetching jumper :)

is this thread only for cute pix or is it for angst too? i have kitteh angst which is pretty self-indulgent in the scheme of things.

cat has granuloma (i think? sounds like cancer but isn't, apparently :hmm:) which means his jaw keeps swelling up. did Right Thing sending him to vets yesterday which was highly traumatic according to mr bob, two vets to hold him down while they squeezed pus out of his face :(

and now the cat's scratched his face to fuck and it's bleedy and horrible :( seems like whatever the vet did made it a hell of a lot worse.

he's an old fucker, always something wrong, and now everyone squirms just to look at him. poor sod :(

My old cat retired to the North to live with my parents when my wife and I went travelling 6 years ago.
He's very settled there so we won't be getting him back as a move back to London wouldn't be fair on him at his age (15 this year).

Soooo.... we're getting a new cat (possibly more than one, depending). We've had our home visit from the Celia Hammond Animal Trust today and they've approved us to adopt a kitteh from them.

They're bursting with cats at the Canning Town centre as it's mating season when a lot of cats get lost or abandoned, apparently. Well worth a look at the photos on the "Animals For Homing" pages there if you want your heartstrings firmly yanked!

So this is a pre-emptive pet posting pending our new arrival this weekend.

Quite excited at the prospect. :D

I've been looking at some of the stories on there. :(

How the fuck can someone just move out of a flat leaving their pet behind?

You'd think if they had pets in the first place they'd be the kind of people that actually liked animals, wouldn't you

The stories are upsetting and make you wonder how people can be so cruel and thoughtless.

They had a whole load of cats arrive yesterday from someone who was emigrating THAT DAY. Talk about leaving things to the last minute!

A few years ago there was a feral kitten outside a house we were renting and C.H.A.T came and rescued him. They spent hours trying to catch him, he even hid in our car's engine compartment at one point.

That's why we want to adopt, to help out a bit.

He looks well cool
He is the coolest cat I've ever met. He used to "talk" to us; when he came into the room we'd say "Fella!" and he'd miaow in a kind of "Yes, I acknowledge you, puny humans" way in response.

We went along to the Celia Hammond centre in Canning Town on Saturday afternoon and after much pondering and petting of kitties, we emerged with two!

Cat One: Ford, a 3 year old Tabby and White male. He was rescued from the Ford plant at Dagenham where he spent most of last year. He was someone's pet before that as he had been castrated and was very friendly. It's believed that some of the Ford workers had mistreated him, though it looks like at least some of the others fed him and notified the rescue centre.

He's already an internet star, appearing on the adoption list on the Canning Town list on http://www.celiahammond.org

Cat Two: Tilly, (our name) an 8 month old, black with white bib female. She and two of her sisters were rescued a few days ago from a house with 7 cats which weren't being taken care of properly.

As soon as we let them out when we got home, Ford headed up the chimney, fortunately he was foiled in his escape plan by the speedy reactions of Mrs Llama. He still managed to cover himself in soot and grit.

After that little excitement, the pair of them disappeared under the sofa, only emerging for a brief look around.

This morning Ford decided we were probably okay and emerged to sit and be made a fuss of. That seemed to inspire Tilly to come out and get a bit of human contact.

Ford then pretty much stayed out of cover, but Tilly returned under the sofa for the rest of the afternoon.

They've both been out from the sofa all evening, Tilly's has been very playful and has also decided that the bed we made for her will suffice. Meanwhile Ford has taken up residence next to me.

I'm not surprised the vet's fallen for him, he looks great. I hope things work out for him.

He's such a sweetie, a really sensative soul, he suckles on blankets when he feels stressed out. When people give him that Bull terrier sideways look it makes me want to plonk him in their lap, just to see what he's really like.

I've phoned the vet since I posted, he's feeling much better today, he can come home this evening hopefully.

I miss my dog (ex-girlfriend kept him when we split up, I only see him every so often for a few hours) :(

Jack (attacking my toes)

Just about! Although...they weren't fully house trained so it was a pain but yeh they're adorable!

What breed are the littleuns?
They're jack russells owner says.

Omg cute overload!! I mustn't let minime see. She wants a pug.

Bless you for your kindness :)
They look lovely. Hope they have many happy years in their new home :)

(Ooh, 1,000th post! What better way to use it than in admiration of kitties ... :D )

i'm in the same boat unfortunately altho i elected not to take up 'visiting rights'. will get another hound one day i hope...

Yeah, to be honest I really should let it be, it probably just confuses him. She lives in the same town though, so I feel a bit bad if I don't take him out for a long walk every month or so.
