I didn't realise the fire had come all the way down to the tarn until we walked up there last week.

Again ☹ We walked up and around Pule Hill yesterday lunchtime, and parked on Mount Road.


Pule Hill is on the left, the fire is on the right, towards Saddleworth/Manc way. Hundreds of sheep and lambs everywhere. The grass is so so dry as it hasn’t rained for weeks. In fact, the last time it ‘rained’ was mad snow that came down during a blazing hot day

Yup, same down here - the forest is tinder dry, the streams are gone, the river has been at summer levels ever since February. How we've not had massive fire is beyond me,and if we did it would be apocalyptic.

They've got a huge moorland fire over on the west coast of Ireland - helicopters dropping water and they are at full stretch trying to contain it.
