Rishi Sunak's Time is Up

What seems to happen is the average person pays around 30% of their income in income tax/NI, if fortunate to earn >£40k on earnings above that ~50%. For the seriously rich they bleat that they pay £Xmillions in tax and everyone goes, "Ohhhh, that's a lot", without realising that £Xmillions equates to ~10% or less of their income. It is these very rich people that have created the tax system in such as way as they can pay a much smaller percentage than non-rich people, in spite of the fact that they have more money than they could ever eat, and they use the media and all means at their disposal to try and fool the masses that they are paying an unreasonable amount and should pay less.

That's a perfectly reasonable point though. People who make more money should pay more tax. Where the lefties like Broggers are getting it wrong is how they're arguing this. That's actually a decent piece.
No, you're not making sense; the reason why many folk are is paying a far greater proportion of their earnings in tax than Rishi Sunak is because the right party of capital have legislated for just that. When Mr.Bishie made exactly that point, (made in the ES article), you dismissed the post as "Hardly Stop The Press stuff."

Can't see what you're up to tbh.

Seem to recall something about you calling yourself a corporation for tax purposes.

“In an attempt to show that “justice is being done”, offenders will be made to wear jumpsuits or hi-vis jackets and work under supervision…Offenders could also be assigned to help on projects that support their local community, including doing unpaid work.”

Errrr, isn’t this called Community Service that’s been in place for donks?
Also sounds a lot like work, in general, in tory britain

So we're back to shaming petty criminals "again"

Oh jesus fucking christ. Is this what we have to look forward to in the run up to the next election? Starmer and Sunak trying to out tough each other on minor crime?

Anti-social behaviour is a problem in many areas and no doubt they both have focus groups who've identified this. But the causes are a stridently unequal atomised society where struggling and frustrated people don't feel part of a wider community, where people who run into problems can't get help as funding for all but the most basic support has been cut so they end up on the streets living out their personal crisis in full public view. Anti-social behaviour is a symptom of a system going wrong rather than the individual acts of bad people who need to be punished.

Will Starmer or Sunak do anything to address these causes? I won't hold my breath as they come up with ever more pointless schemes to make people with mental health and drug problems wear orange jump suits and be paraded in public, like a modern version of the stocks, or they'll be doubling down on the failed war on drugs which causes far more problems than it could ever hope to solve.

I fucking despair at the wastes of space filling the senior roles in politics. They're the ones who should be forced to do demeaning community service.

Thread of interest from the Scottish Tory conference:

All the Scottish journalists were having none of it.

Sunak's team suggested they should all delete their tweets about this, which has been received as you might predict.
