Rishi Sunak’s time is up!

I am hoping that the Tories take leave of their senses and go for full on swivel eyed loon Truss. The subtly and humanity of a house brick to the face.

Sunak seems to have some latent popularity among soggy PMC types despite his immense wealth, privilege and obvious ideological commitment to dying neo-liberal dogma.

He'll be the first Prime Minister younger than me  We could have been at the same Ox college at the same time had I gone to Lincoln. For that reason alone he should be banned asap.

Christian Wakeford's statement just read out on Sky, he certainly doesn't mince his words about Johnson.

Pickman's model linked on the Johnson thread to the speculative Fail story yesterday about the links between Sunak and Munira Mirza.
Tldr; in place of link here:

And FWIW - not a lot I suspect - this morning I had a look BTL. Not much love for Rishi there. The comments that were by far the most popular accuse him, not unreasonably, of being a rich out of touch toff with no idea how ordinary people live. And someone who'd never win the Tories an election

The triple lock is a government commitment to increase the value of the state pension every new tax year by either inflation, average wage growth or 2.5% – whichever is higher.

Rishi " up yours you scroungers ".

Added this to the Independent thread:

Fine piece of writing.

Fucksake, like poverty has ever been considered saintly (outside of the confines of a monastic order).
Mostly those in poverty are considered as an "underclass" or deemed likely to be halfway to being criminals if they aren't already there. The amount of invective directed at the poor not just in living memory, but historically, makes the "saintly" statement above a complete fucking joke - lazy, criminal, stupid - all insults used to explain why people are in poverty.

I explain it a different way - class society, capitalism, exploitation. Sunak is one of those currently steering that particular ship while the toffs sunbathe on the upper fucking deck.

More on the ££bn bounceback loans scandal from The Times (free to read today). They start off with the quick sensationalism below but it's worth reading the whole thing - not all of it news. This thing is going to run and run, however much the govt tries to hide it.

Suitcases filled with cash from taxpayer-backed Covid loans were seized at the border as people tried to smuggle them out of the country, a Times investigation reveals today.

Border force officials have stopped people at airports across Britain “carrying large amounts of money suspected from coronavirus bounce-back loans”, a Home Office source said.

Other recipients of financial support during the pandemic used the money to fund gambling sprees, home improvements, cars and watches, it has emerged.

They are among dozens of company directors who have been disqualified after misusing the loans scheme that was set up to support businesses during the pandemic.

In many cases the individuals took out the loans before immediately transferring the funds into personal bank accounts and spending the money on themselves instead of their companies.

Somebody had to have signed off on these loans. Somebody had to put their name down to say, "yes, this loan is for legitimate purposes".

So the idea that "iT's tOo hArD" to find and punish the perpetrators of this fraud is 100% bullshit.
