Rape, sexual assault and harassment in the entertainment industry

Sunday Times front page is up. Several linked stories about Brand. Archived version of main one here. (Connections a bit flaky I imagine from unusual levels of traffic)
Russell Brand accused of rape, sexual assaults and abuse

He's fucked. That's pretty clear and detailed, not much wriggling out of that I'd have thought. Good riddance to him. Hopefully his festival, YouTube channel and gigs will all start falling apart.

Hard to read some of that. The ongoing pattern of offending behaviour made me think of someone else, and lo and behold look who pops up at the end of the article

In May 2007, Brand called Jimmy Savile, who suggested the pair could meet if Brand brought along a sister. Brand doesn’t have a sister, so instead offered to bring a female employee — agreeing, on Savile’s request, that she should be naked.
“I’ve got a personal assistant,” he said. “And part of her job description is that anyone I demand she greet, meet, massages, she has to do it. She’s very attractive, Jimmy.” This was four years before Savile’s death and five years before details of the Jim’ll Fix It presenter’s crimes were exposed.

With the legal floodgates open, I wonder what the people who previously held their tongues under threat of lawyer will have to say?
I'm thinking particularly of Fern Brady and Katherine Ryan who weren't too shy about dropping hints as to who they meant by "predator" in the past.

Enabled by all the media outlets both here and in the USA, who just do their best to minimise the reputational damage their star might cause. The only person who seemed to actively try and prevent abuse was a taxi driver.

Is it just Brand then? From what I’d read on Twitter I thought it was going to be loads of comedians.
There's been a lot of "well I can't name names" talk around a children's author over the years, as well. Edited the rest out, keep mistaking this for Reddit.

I met RB at a friend's do at Club 333 on Old St, in 2001 .. or maybe 2002. Only once, anyway. It was enough. To paraphrase Graham Greene .. Mojo knew, before he had been in the club three hours, that here was a massive wanker.

(Sorry I have to clarify, one night there was this one particular wanker flitting about, playing the big I am and obviously trying it on with every woman he got near to, pissing off my friends and who at the time was just another coked-up prat you might meet in an Old St club any Saturday night. But a few years later this particular prat was all over the TV and I remembered, oh look it's that wanker who tried to snog all B's mates that night .. and so he has remained)

A more suspicious person might think his gradual shift to alt right media presentation and increased talk about being persecuted was preparing the ground for these allegations.

Apparently he's had several injunctions blocking certain stories right at the last minute in recent years, but he must have known his time was coming.

This way he can at least continue to grift some gullible wankers and pretend he's being targeted unfairly.

I've got a friend who works behind the scenes in BBC comedy and heard more than enough gross stories about him and a few other 'comedians'.

I thought there was something dodgy about PL Travers, and there probably is, but looking at Wiki has failed to refresh my memory. However, there is a deeply weird adoption story that I didn't know about.

All of that article was horrific but that was the bit that hit me the most.

As an aside, the Met have a specific operation - called MakeSafe - that is specifically aimed at cab drivers, hotel workers and anyone else who might come across kids in the same situation as Alice was.
