people who voted tory

Is 1000 people really enough to be representative?

Look at the pie chart and the legend for goodness sake - it's close to bog standard Excel. The Graun has a huge graphics team which would never stoop that low. And look at the title case in "general election" and "did not vote" - hardly house style.

Oh yes, and the absurd and utterly unconvincing numbers.

Yeah?

Yet the Guardian published this as well.

Glastonbury – which, when I first came, was known as the Glastonbury CND festival – still has a radical, egalitarian spirit that can be picked up all over the site

That the guardian would, and has, in fact, stooped so low. Despite their huge graphic team.

I know, let's do a pie chart!

It's the design of the pie chart and labels and the horrid (and superfluous) legend at the bottom that looks wrong, not the choice of exhibit. Much as it would make Edward Tufte cry.

Side by side with butchersapron's example, I can see the difference. But without the comparison I wouldn't have known it wasn't from the Guardian by the style. And indeed I didn't. Nor did two of their well-known senior journalists. What can I say, I'm not a graphic designer. (And I'd only seen it on my phone at first anyway, not on a big screen).

As for the figures being "utterly unconvincing", aside from the low showing for the Greens, they supported my suspicions. I suppose that's what makes a good lie.

So who created this then?

A Tory family's S&S JISAs and SIPPs will be up a fuck load more than they would have been under Milliband, as will their rents.
