I'm a cynical old goat but I like a bit of 'so many people all watching/invested, get caught up with it all, good family fun, spectacle etc'. Yes our politicians are self serving cunts and corporatism (?) is a blight on society but plenty of ordinary people have put time and effort into this and I'm sure the main bit will be good in the stadium and on telly and for people watching around the world. It's good having things that bring us together a bit.
